This is the naked street bike version of the hugely popular Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Launched in Indonesia, the Z250 is priced at Rs 2.57 lakh. A scaled-down version of Kawasaki’s own Z800 as far as looks go, the Z250 gets a stout headlamp unit while there is a fair amount of body work done which can be seen on the tank and extensions. Under the fuel tank sits the Ninja 250R’s 250cc, parallel-twin fuel injected motor. Kawasaki haven’t revealed the power figures however it will be safe to assume that the new baby Ninja will make approximately 32PS of power. On offer will be the 6-speed transmission from the 250R. The removal of the fairing has caused a drop in weight by 5kg over the Ninja 250R, bringing the overall weight of the Z250 to 168kg. Unlike the Ninja’s 3-piece handlebar, the Z250 will have a flat handlebar which will make for easy manoeuvrability in the streets. The digital instrument panel has been retained from the Ninja 250R though.

While it is still not clear about the strategy of moving from a 250cc mill to 300 and then shifting focus back on a 250, we expect Kawasaki to launch this bike in India. It will help them give some stiff competition to the likes of the CBR250R and KTM 390 Duke. Kawasaki has been known to price its products higher than the competition in India and the Z250’s is expected to toe a similar line. On that front, it will be up against the upcoming Hyosung GT250N and Suzuki Inazuma 250.

It is hell of a beauty. Damn due to family , I had to buy a car, else I would have already either had Harley or one of the sports bikes (especially Kawasaki) in my garage. [frustration]

Launched at Rs. 2.99 lakh ex showroom, alongwith the ER6N (Rs 4.78 lakh ex showroom).

No thanks, I'd rather buy a Duke 390 for 2.15 lakh on road.

The Kawasaki Z250 is really a looker, it's looks resembles its bigger brother Kawasaki z800. The road presence is great from this bike with muscular fuel tank, smart tail lamp and z800s headlamp. The engine is lifted from older ninja 250r but the power and torque have been lower a bit and the torque is also generated higher 10000rpm. The rev counter pasts 5000rpm and the engine feels really punchy although some power lag is evident on the highway. The ride quality and handling and brakes are also surprisingly mature. But the tires does not provide enough grunt and the ride quality is touch too firm for city riding. The pricing is also really mediocre. So go for it if you want a Kawasaki otherwise you can get ninja 300 and Duke 390
