These are the very first spy pictures of TVS’s upcoming automatic scooter being tested in Bengaluru. This latest TVS is clearly very near production ready, and is set to augment TVS’s successful existing automatic scooter fleet, the Scooty Pep and Wego, as it takes on the industry leader, Honda’s popular Activa.

This will be TVS’s first full-size scooter, as seen in visibly larger overall proportions as compared to its more petite stable mate, the Wego. All-black alloy wheels will be standard kit, as well as conservative styling cues shared with the Wego. The pictures show the new scooter uses a set of contemporary, flush-fitted turn signal indicators front and rear. The circular hole cut in the cloth concealing the new scooter just below the pillion seat is to allow a key to open the seat. Expect the new scooter to offer industry standard specifications and conveniences, including an electric starter, plus an ample features list to match the competition.

We expect TVS’s new scooter to share most of its mechanical components with the Wego, using a 110cc, four-stroke and force air-cooled engine, with a variator-controlled automatic transmission system. The new TVS scooter will seat riders in a comfortable, upright riding position on its long, lightly stepped saddle. Telescopic fork suspension will be used in front, with a single hydraulic shock absorber at rear, where the engine doubles up as a stressed member of the frame. TVS’s new scooter is equipped with drum brakes front and rear, while we also hope to see a disc brake variant as already available on the Wego. This new TVS scooter should enter the Indian market soon, within no more than a few months from now.

Re: SCOOP! New TVS Scooter Spied in Bangalore

I doubt this is a test vehicle. IMO it looks more like a covered Activa in all aspects, except for the wheels, not sure if Activa is now coming with alloys.
And moreover why should the test rider carry a rice bag (or something similar) for testing, it makes more suspicious. [confused]

Another spy pic from MotorBeam
These pictures clears my doubts, Thanks Visran. But still somehow I feel it is a copy of Activa, except the fuel tank lid, which is placed above the tail lights. [frustration]

Spied – Speedometer of the new TVS scooter revealed

TVS is on the verge of launching a new automatic scooter. The new TVS scooter has been caught testing a number of times.

It appears that TVS is using some prospective customers to test the scooter and the mule spotted seems to be one such example. That explains the local registration plates. It’s usual for two wheeler manufacturers to get feedback on customers’ first hand experience just before the market launch of the product.

To recap, the new TVS automatic scooter is essentially a TVS Wego with a new top hat. The two wheeler is powered by the same 110cc four stroke mill of the Wego but sports bigger body panels for a unisex appeal. The motor develops 8bhp of power and 8 Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT.

Designed to compete with the segment leader, the Honda Activa, the new scooter from TVS is noticeably larger than the Wego. The spyshot reveals the speedometer of the scooter partially. From what we see, the unit is different from that of the Wego.

Spied – New TVS scooter spotted

TVS is almost ready with a new automatic scooter which is being tested extensively. It’s believed that TVS has lent a few test mules to prospective customers to get their feedback before bringing the scooter to the market. What you see here could be once such test mule.

To recap everything, the yet to be named scooter will be powered by the Wego’s 110cc mill which develops 8 bhp. The scooter is slightly bigger than the Wego (to have a better unisex appeal). Design wise, the scooter imitates the segment leader Honda Activa. Also note the fuel filler located externally at the aft like in the Wego.

The scooter is expected to sit above the Scooty Pep+ and the Wego. TVS hopes that it would have a better chance in the fight against Honda if it has another new scooter in its lineup.

Including the recently unveiled Activa-i, Honda has a sturdy lineup of four automatic scooters (the other three are the Activa, Aviator and Dio), all with similar hardware but spaced apart from each other in terms of design, equipment and pricing.

Expect the new scooter to be launched anytime soon.

@visran

Jupitar looks like Honda Activa and Maestro together. The best thing in Wego as well Jupitar might be the big wheels which reduce the bumps on bad roads[:)]

Re: Scoop! New Scooter By TVS – The Jupiter.

Yes it will not only compete with these but is a much better scooter overall than the above choices. Its ride quality is the best of the lot.
