Hello Jeepster,

Enjoyed reading your Ownership of Storme 400.

I have one query about engine oil. which engine oil do you feel best for Varicor 400 ?

I have Hexa XT 4x2 and am considering mobil super for my hexa. The beast running smoothly but slight vibration felt on accelerator paddle at 110 kmph and above. Also noticed black smoke bust while changing gears.

And more than that , a great garage!!
Mine is just at 11100 Kms now and may take 5 to 7 years to achieve your ODO :p

I use stock Petronas Urania TM CI4+ 15w40. (as per T.A.S.S)
Our safari rarely goes above 100kmph .. so never felt any vibrations.

Update : 1,08,000 km
TorqueMonster is a at T.A.S.S. for faulty EGR replacement since Saurday.
They have ordered EGR from Sanand GJ.

Ours is second Vaeicor to have this problem..[frustration]
Storme 400 belonging to our neighbor (our relative & is current MLA) who had bought it month after us had same problem after 1Lakh km.
BTW 1,00,000 km service costed Rs6000.[clap]

100k km for an EGR replacement isn't bad, it should have been cleaned at 80k km thereby increasing its life significantly.

The service costs though are[clap]

Very nicely maintained Storme, TASS has become reliable, good to hear.

The Toyota Land Cruiser looks monstrous.

Thats a wonderful beast you have got there.[cheers] Im a seriously looking forward to buy the beast for our family. been across almost all ownership threads on the internet but yours just got my attention always. is that quote you have mentioned is a typo or is it the right one? by the way seeing a thread with a beautifully maintained beast crossing 1.5lakh kms is really a boost to all safari fans looking to buy one but are doubtful regarding the reliablity.

Was this the first breakdown on road after 2.25 L KM? Were there any EGR related warnings before?
I have got EGR related warnings couple of times for my Aria about 2-3 years back when the car was in warranty but TASS had cleaned the EGR (dont know what they exactly do) and had cleared the error codes. Subsequently I have not faced any EGR related warnings after that. This looks to be something to be worried about, especially if one is somewhere far away from service stations!

Last EGR failure was around 1.08L km ... was replaced under warranty...

There was no sign of EGR failing ... as you can see the pics EGR valve pin broke & vehicle died...

I simply screwed the cap back in place... simple but quite difficult task.
