Re: Jeepster's 2016 Tata Safari Storme Varicor400: TorqueMonster (60,000 Kms Update)

Service costs sound reasonable by the parts that were replaced. Did your original brake pads 70k km? If so, it is splendid driving and part quality.

Why are so many bulbs fusing? For the tail lamp, I guess the dust has the answer.

Why is the fuel gauge faulty? What is happening?
Yes, rear pads were almost gone, front were good for few thousands km.

Wiring is 100% stock without any added accessories.

Dont know if its dust or faded reflectors in tail lamps.

Fuel gauge is never accurate, it goes to 75% within 50~70 km after full refill.[frustration]

Jeepster, awesome write up!!

I just went through all the pages and you have provided all the information to keep the beast in form.
Love to see 2 Tata products in your garage. Waiting for the your review on Tata Hexa.
I own Tata Zest Diesel XT I also hear small whistling noise around 2000 rpm. Checked with the service guys and they mentioned it as the sound of turbo. I love my car and love Tata products.
I have also plans to buy Hexa 4*4 MT but decided to wait till Dec 2017 so that it will be niggle free after the review from customers.

Tata has come up long way in their quality on products and services after the launch of Zest and Bolt.

Thanks.

I got an invite for Hexa launch in my city.
Cant wait to see the beast in person. (Demo car is XTA AFAIK)

The turbo noise is ok if its slight whistle. (it could be a minor pressure leak in the plumbing)

If not get it rectified under warranty.

Are the front pads the pads that came with the vehicle?

The fuel gauge issue is irritating but doesn't sound complex. They should replace the sensor on the tank and that should fix it.

  2. #TorqueMonster is always on the run so fuel gauge checkup is postponed for next service.. (as usual [frustration])

Were you able to check it out?
How was it?
Also, how is your clutch doing? Any changes in the feel or hardness so far?
Storme's clutch is fine. (not felt any changes so far)

Attended the Launch event & next day drove the Hexa XTA for 10 km thru City traffic & some outer bypass road. (full of potholes)

Just loved it.[clap]

  • really good suspension

  • absolutely 0 body roll (compared to storme)
I'll book a proper TD of XT variant whenever its available here.

Long time no update on the truck Nikhil. How many km has it done now? Has the fuel gauge issue been resolved? How is the truck overall? Any other replacements?

98,079 km today.

Yes fuel gauge issue still pending. [roll]
Replaced front passenger side door lock & replaced passenger side headlamp under warranty.
Cleaned tail lights as they were blackedout by dirt.

Overall enjoying the Truck & TASS Service.

Wow, within kissing distance of a lac and no suspension or other untoward replacements...!!!

Tata Motors deserves credit for this Nikhil, as do you/your driver. Has the clutch remained as light as it was on Day-1 (Checking if the auto adustment actually works)?

Also, have you faced any issues with controlling the AC temp using the rotary dial?

Yes, no noticeable difference in clutch engagement/release ...
No issues with AC switches either.

We are going to replace storme with Hexa next Jan. (it will cross 150 k km by then)

Why have the headlights Holder melted?
Are you using high wattage bulbs without proper relay harness and holder?

BTW your running is something to be envious about!

That is one great review of storme.
And more than that , a great garage!!

I am more happy to find that the vehicle is performing well as i too own a storme.

I changed oil in both my first and second service. I never believe those manuals. Esp with a 15W40.
Similar confusion of oil grade as in your was observed in mine . guess its in CI grade now. Next time i'll ensure i'll buy my own oils.
Mine is just at 11100 Kms now and may take 5 to 7 years to achieve your ODO :p
