On suggestion, remove the rear top on the Xenon and it will look real bad-ass car.

Great to know that truck is doing great, so you haven't got the turbo replaced right? Why did you opt for MRF wanderer instead of stock bridgestones?
Finally are we going to see Hexa 4*4 in your garage?

Turbo is not replaced, looks like its a minor pressure leak somewhere. (no drop in oil or performance/FE just annoying sound)

Wanderer's were bought for Xenon , those were lying unused so decided to use them on TorqueMonster.
Also they were already balanced so just swapped the whole tyre+alloy set.

Hexa 4x2 .. Yes but in second quarter of 2017 [;)] (4x4 is my next project)

I wanted to know how are the MRF performing on the Storme, asking this since Hexa will also be shod with these on 19inch rims. How is their life, wet grip and comfort when compared to Bridgestone duelers?
Hmm Hexa 4*2 so it's a AT then..

Also thread title needs updating too..

Just swapped them yesterday so no review yet.
235/55/19 Wanderer tyres are designed by MRF specifically for the Hexa. (the ride & NVH will be different than wanderer )

No AT's in our family it will be MT only.

Waiting for your perspective on the Hexa, when are you getting hands on one for a TD?

[*] Front right suspension changed under warranty...[frustration]
What was replaced and why? Can you share more details on this please?

What does the odo read now? Are you happy with the vehicle overall? Anything else that you would term as unusual? Any rattles and squeaks so far?

Re: Jeepster's 2016 Tata Safari Storme Varicor400: TorqueMonster (60,000 Kms Update)

Hello Jeepster

Awesome report.

Is the turbo sound like whistle or hum?

Because I found in two to three years old storme, when put on load use to give loud humming sound.

May be in Jan 2017.

I didn't noticed it.
It was leaking oil. (spotted by tata guys)
Best choice ever. (odo at 62000)

  • no rattles.
  • Best FE 14+
  • better service than MM guys
  • better suspension than XUV w8
My MM experience.
Just few days back did 30,000km (paid) service of our JAN 2015 XUV w8 fwd.
as per manual only AC filter needed to be replaced along with general checkup.

  • it took 1 full day for it.
  • 2700/- + bill (were not accepting cheque, 2 customers swore not to buy MM cars in front of me because of poor service / payment issues)
  • they didn't rectified the tyretronics which was showing error
  • on 2nd day 2 hours for rechecking it. [frustration]
  • on 3rd day noticed that reverse beeper was not working.
Now they are saying that its broken during wash (at their workshop[frustration])

All i can say is... our next vehicle will be TATA HEXA.

Thanks.
Its a sound of air pressure leak with light whistle. (between 1800~2200rpm)
But performance is good so not insisting for turbo replacement .

A recent pic taken on NH211 at Bindusara lake. (please ignore the wiper, its was purposefully removed but i forgot to refit it.)

Thanks for the reply Jeepster.

Do you think silver color will last longer on safari than white? The reason is white color turns yellowish after some time. I may be wrong here.

I dont think so... Pearl white looks best.

Tata's paint quality is really good.

I noticed this too. My friend's Storme has seen multiple hits from bikers on the rear bumper and while I can see a few dents on the bumper, there is no paint peel off.

That apart, how is your truck doing?

Celebrated the 1st Bday of the #TorqueMonster on 21 Jan.[:)]

but on 26 Jan the alloys (borrowed from my XenonXT) got a bad hit from badly maintained road shoulder. (which was closely 1 ft deep)

Luckily only rear tyre lost the air.
driver changed the tyre with spare & came home.

Next day went to 70,000 km service for brake pad change & discoverd the front damaged alloy.[shock]

Both tyres are scratchless only alloys got hit somehow.
now switched back to OE alloys.

Work done in service.

  • front brake pads changed
  • rear brake pads changed
  • rear brake light bulb changed again
  • front left low beam bulb changed
total cost 9,392/-
problems to be rectified

  • dust in rear left tail light
  • faulty fuel gauge

Ouch...that would have hurt. Nevertheless, I still feel that the OE alloys looked way better than the Xenon's wheels. Glad to know that the suspension wasn't damaged.

Service costs sound reasonable by the parts that were replaced. Did your original brake pads 70k km? If so, it is splendid driving and part quality.

Why are so many bulbs fusing? For the tail lamp, I guess the dust has the answer.

Why is the fuel gauge faulty? What is happening?
