2020 Audi A4, A5, A6 and A7 recalled due to fire hazard

x9mzclyeeeocuh3dy8sk.jpg

Audi Australia has issued a recall of 29 examples of its 2020 model-year A4 (pictured above), A5, A6 and A7 cars due to a fire hazard.

The issue affects 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine models fitted with mild-hybrid systems manufactured from May 2017 to March 2020.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says a gap in the housing of the vehicles’s start-alternator may allow moisture to enter the unit.

Moisture in the starter-alternator may cause it to overheat, increasing the chance of a fire which could cause injury to vehicle occupants and/or bystanders and damage to property, the recall says.

2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d recalled for faulty airbags

gtlngvyaiwn9iwjohk8z.jpg

Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall of 62 examples of its 2019 GLE 300d 4Matic SUV due to airbags that may not inflate properly during an accident.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says a wiring harness responsible for activating the second-row driver's-side airbags may be damaged by the seat moving along its guide rail.

Mercedes-Benz says if the side airbag does not deploy as intended during an accident, it may increase the risk of serious injury to occupants.

Affected cars were sold between 11 February 2019 and 5 April 2019.

Chrysler steering wheel airbag cover recall issued

chrysler-steering-wheel-airbag-cover-recall-250.png

A Chrysler steering wheel airbag cover recall has been announced for more than 1.2 million model year 2007-2011 Dodge Nitro SUVs, and 2008-2010 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.

More than 925,000 vehicles are recalled in the U.S., about 188,250 are recalled in Canada, more than 24,000 are recalled in Mexico and more than 66,000 vehicles are recalled outside North America.

The problem is related to discontinued clips that may loosen and detach over time, possibly turning the clips or plastic emblems into projectiles when the driver-side airbags deploy.

The automaker says it knows of 14 possible injuries to drivers caused by loosened clips. Additionally, Chrysler notes the airbags were not supplied by Takata.

Porsche recalls 911 Carrera 4S coupes

2020-porsche-911-carrera-4s-coupe-recall(1)-250.png

Porsche is recalling 16 model year 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupes because the front axle differential brackets may not have been tightened correctly.

If it comes loose, the differential could damage surrounding components.

In the U.S. 14 cars are recalled and in Canada two Carrera 4S Coupes are recalled.

The Porsche recall is expected to begin August 25, 2020, when dealerships will remove the front axle differentials to check the screw threads and surrounding components for any damage.

The front axle differentials may need to be reinstalled or replaced using new screw joints torqued to the required specifications.

Range Rover door latch replacements recall issued

range-rover-door-latch-recall-2020-250.png

A Range Rover door latch replacement recall has been issued for the umpteenth time because the Land Rover doors on more than 6,200 SUVs may appear to be closed when they're not.

The 2013-2016 Range Rover and 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport SUVs were previously recalled and supposedly repaired. But the automaker says dealerships may not have properly performed the recall repairs.

Range Rover customers are reporting unlatched doors even though the doors appear to be securely closed, with no indications the doors aren't latched. Some of the complaints allege the doors opened while the Range Rovers were in motion.

The automaker blames the problem on the keyless vehicle latching system (KV latch) that needs to be disabled to fix the problem.

KIA SOUL EV Suvs recalled for rollaway problems

kia-soul-ev-recall-250.png

A Kia Soul EV (electric vehicle) recall has been ordered for more than 3,700 SUVs because of unintentional rollaway dangers.

Kia says the 2015-2016 Kia Soul EV parking mechanisms may become damaged if drivers move the gear shifters into the PARK positions before the vehicles come to complete stops.

This can allow the Soul EV to roll even though the shift lever indicates the EV is in PARK.

Kia received a complaint in April about a 2016 Soul EV that rolled backward and hit a pole even though the driver shifted into PARK. However, the dealer couldn't replicate the problem with the Soul in PARK.

2018-2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter recalled for brake fix

se9kmo1vn5hfuyctu0r4.jpg

Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall for 5279 examples of its VS30 Sprinter van with model years from 2018 to 2020 (MY18-MY20) due to faulty brakes.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says the brake hoses may contact the rear part of the fender liner of the front axle while driving the vehicle, causing anything from chafe marks to worn-out brake hoses, resulting in leaking brake fluid.

Mercedes-Benz says leaking brake fluid may result in increased braking distances.

Affected cars were sold between 11 October 2018 and 1 May 2020. Mercedes-Benz Australia is contacting owners to organise inspection and repair of the defect. A spokesperson for Mercedes-Benz Australia has told CarAdvice there are no known failures to Australian-delivered models.

BMW recalls X3 M, X4 M, 3 Series, and Z4 models due to steering failure

q9hbsy1pe8rdmdplbsor.jpg

BMW Australia has issued a recall of 1269 examples of (MY2018-19) F97 X3 M, F98 X4 M, G20 3 Series, and G29 Z4 models due to a potential steering rod failure.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says the steering track rods may be damaged when exposed to high temperatures and vibrational loads.

BMW says if the steering track rods are damaged or break, the vehicle will have limited steering ability and may not steer as expected.

Model Year (MY) 2018 and 2019 vehicles are affected, but these models could have been sold in the second-half of 2017. BMW Australia is contacting owners to organise inspection and repair of the defect.

Honda recalls 22,366 cars due to faulty fuel pump

nad6xbqzput4wxr09fll.jpg

Honda Australia has issued a recall on a total of 22,366 cars – across eight model types – citing a faulty component within the fuel pump assembly.

The affected models are the Accord (MY2018), City (MY2019), Civic (MY2018), CR-V (MY2018-2019), HR-V (MY2018), Jazz (MY2019), Civic Type R (MY2018), and the NSX (MY2019).

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says a component within the fuel pump assembly could swell, causing the fuel pump to become inoperative.

Honda Australia says this potential fault could stop affected cars from “starting or stall the engine while driving”.

Affected cars were sold between July 26, 2018 and May 12, 2020.

2020 Mitsubishi Outlander recalled for seat belt fault

e3eqnq2n7auz5vfdlsgl.jpg

Mitsubishi Australia has issued a recall for a total of 1948 cars, citing an incorrectly assembled seat belt anchor on the rear right seat of the current generation Outlander SUV.

Both the regular petrol-powered models and plug-in-hybrid variants have been affected, the company says.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says the fault could cause the occupant to be improperly restrained in the case of an accident.

Mitsubishi’s spokesperson said no cases of malfunction had been recorded in Australia, but confirmed customers with affected cars will be contacted as a precaution.

The recalled cars were sold between July 31, 2019 and March 31, 2020.

KIA SEDONA minivans recalled after fire

2020-kia-sedona-alternator-nut-recall-250.png

Kia is recalling its 2020 Sedona minivans over a risk of fires caused by the battery positive (B+) terminal nuts located on the alternators.

The alternator nuts may not have been tightened properly by an employee during assembly. An electrical arc and resulting fire can occur from the loose alternator nut.

Kia says 5,385 model year 2020 Sedona minivans are included in the recall following a complaint filed in February about a 2020 Sedona that caught fire.

Toyota Tundra turn signal problems cause recall

toyota-tundra-turn-signal-problems-recall-250.png

Toyota Tundra turn signal problems have caused a recall of more than 206,000 model year 2018-2020 Tundra trucks.

The Tundra turn signal problems are caused by wire harnesses connected to the front turn signal bulbs.

The harnesses weren't assembled correctly, causing the turn signal bulbs to suffer illumination problems. Toyota says the bulbs may not be bright enough to satisfy federal safety standards.

About 183,000 Tundras are recalled in the U.S. and more than 23,000 are recalled in Canada.

2018-2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 recalled due to child-lock symbol

eb95a641778c084aa30fbb9c6666a0fc.jpg

Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall for 361 examples of its AMG G63 wagon with Model Years from 2018 to 2019 (MY18-MY19) due to an incorrect child safety lock symbol.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says the incorrectly embossed symbol "may result in a misinterpretation of the locking status of the child safety lock".

It may be possible to open the rear doors on the AMG G63 wagon from the inside even though it appears they have been locked, based on the diagram. Conversely, it may also not be possible to open the rear doors from the inside after appearing to unlock the child safety latch.

  • Cross Touran
  • Golf (Mk.6 and Mk.7)
  • Jetta
  • Passat (B7)

Mercedes Electronics stability problems cause recall

Mercedes-Benz is recalling nearly 5,500 of these vehicles because of problems with the electronic stability program (ESP) software.
  • 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
  • 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG S
  • 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 53
  • 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63
  • 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S
  • 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 AMG
  • 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 AMG S
Mercedes opened investigations in February 2018 based on testing of an AMG GT which showed the ESP system might not have been adapted for the different brake types of the vehicles.

The automaker discovered the failure mode system for a failure of the brake negative pressure supply might not have been implemented into the software.
