BMW to Recall 360,000 Cars in China Over Takata Airbags

Germany's BMW will recall 360,000 vehicles in China as part of the worldwide effort to root out defective airbags made by now-defunct Japanese supplier Takata, regulators in Beijing said. Around 20 people have died in accidents linked to defects in Takata airbags since 2013, prompting a massive worldwide recall of at least 100 million cars from a wide range of manufacturers. The recall will affect nearly 273,000 models built by BMW's joint venture with Chinese manufacturer Brilliance Automotive and more than 87,000 imported BMW cars, China's State Administration for Market Regulation said.

Honda Recalls 1.37 Lakh SUVs For Sudden Airbag Deployments

Honda Motor Co said on Wednesday it is recalling 137,000 new sport utility vehicles (SUVs) following reports of three injuries tied to sudden air bag deployments in the United States. The Japanese-based automaker said it is recalling the 2019 CR-V to replace steering wheel wire harnesses and supplemental restraint system cable reels after six unexpected driver air bag deployments that occurred without a crash. There are so far no reports of related crashes, the automaker said. The recall includes 118,000 vehicles in the United States and 19,000 in Korea and Canada.

Owners of new Honda CRVs have noted issues with driver’ side airbags which tend to deploy without any warning or any crash. As per documents filed with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a total of 118,598 cars in the US are affected. The affected 2019 Honda CR-V models are built between October 3, 2018 and April 1, 2019 and the issue is with the airbag wiring harnesses which are routed across the steering wheel metal core.

Porsche Recalls 3.4 Lakh Cars Worldwide Due To Faulty Transmission Unit

Volkswagen's sports-car brand Porsche has to recall almost 340,000 Cayenne and Panamera vehicles due to problems with their automatic transmission, the German company said on Tuesday. A Porsche spokesman said the cars might roll when parked due to a potentially fragile part in the connection between the gear lever and transmission. Almost 100,000 of the affected vehicles, which date back to 2002, are in the United States and almost 25,000 in Germany.

Honda To Recall 1.6 Million Vehicles, Finish Takata Recalls Early

Honda is recalling 1.6 million vehicles in the U.S. to replace potentially deadly Takata air bag inflators, completing its required recalls six months ahead of schedule, the automaker said Friday.

When the latest recall is done, Honda says it will have recalled or accounted for 22.6 million inflators in about 12.9 million vehicles.

Suzuki Jimny Recalled For Possible Fuel Leakage; 21,248 Units Affected

Suzuki has now announced a callback for the Jimny globally due to the possibility of fuel leakage. The Japanese manufacturer stated that the moulding in the fuel hose was found to be less flexible in the affected Jimny models and in the worst case scenario, the stalls could be damaged and fuel could be leaked through the hose. It could cause adverse effects and lead to safety hazards. Thus, Suzuki has immediately intimated owners of the fourth generation Jimny to bring their vehicles to an authorised nearby dealership and get the hose replaced with new components. As much as 21,248 units manufactured between May 11, 2018 and March 12, 2019 are recalled under this campaign.

Honda Motor Co Ltd's venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd will recall 222,674 Accord sedans in China, market regulators said on Thursday, after recent complaints on social media about the car engine's quality. The recall is linked to a problem caused by the intercooler of the car's 1.5T turbocharged engine. In certain situations, the engine lost speed to protect the vehicle, according to a document on China's State Administration for Market Regulation.

General Motors Recall 3.5 Million Vehicles in North America Due to Braking Issue

General Motors Co said Wednesday it was recalling 3.46 million U.S. pickup trucks and SUVs to address a vacuum pump issue that could make braking more difficult and that has been linked to 113 accidents and 13 injuries.

The recall covers 2014-2018 model year vehicles, including some Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon vehicles.

Volkswagen, Porsche To Recall Around 227,000 cars Over Airbag, Seatbelt Issues

Volkswagen and Porsche have to recall around 227,000 cars due to problems with airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners, Germany's Stuttgarter Zeitung said on Thursday.

The newspaper said the Tiguan, Sharan and CC models built in 2015 as well as Porsche 911, Boxter, Cayman und Panamera models from 2015 and 2016. It cited Germany's KBA federal motor authority as saying the cars needed an update to the software of the airbag control units.

Volkswagen said 227,000 Volkswagen and Porsche cars were affected, citing possible problems with airbags in some of them and adding that new software needed to be installed.

Porsche was not immediately available for comment.

Nissan recalls over 450,000 vehicles for risk of fire

Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 454,000 vehicles worldwide over a brake fluid leak that could cause a risk of fire. About 394,000 of the vehicles are in the U.S., the company said in government documents.

Only about 1 percent of recalled vehicles are believed to have the defect, the company said in a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The company is recommending owners who see an ABS warning light on the dashboard park their cars outside until they can have the vehicle towed through Nissan or Infiniti Roadside Assistance to an authorized dealer.

GM recalls more than 640,000 pickup trucks for fire-causing seat belts

General Motors is recalling more than 640,000 pickup trucks because the seat belts can set the carpeting on the floor of the vehicles on fire.

A small explosion is used to move a piston that tightens the high-tech seat belts before a crash, the Associated Press reports. The explosion can potentially release hot gas through an opening in the pretensioner brackets, possibly setting the carpet on the floor of the vehicle on fire.

There have been reports of two fires but no injuries.

Fiat Chrysler To Recall Nearly 700,000 SUVs For Electrical Fault Risk In The US



Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV said on Thursday it will recall nearly 700,000 sport utility vehicles worldwide because a faulty electrical connection could prevent engine starts or contribute to a stall.

The recall, covering 2011 through 2013 model year Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs, will address silicon deposits on the contact points of fuel pump relays that may interrupt electrical current, Fiat Chrysler said in a statement. It said it is unaware of any injuries or accidents related to the faulty vehicles.

BMW Recalls Certain M Models In the US



BMW has recalled certain M Models in the US. The company said that the models affected were the 2019-2020 BMW M5, M8, X5 M and X6 M which were produced between January 2019 to November are potentially affected. BMW will recall these vehicles for a possible defect with the transmission wiring harness. The company stated that the vehicles found to be affected by this safety recall, still in dealer inventory, may not be sold until the harness is replaced and rerouted in early 2020.

General Motors is recalling more than 700,000 pickup trucks in the U.S. for software errors that can disable critical safety functions and, separately, for glue on battery cables that can cause fires, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

On 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 models, a fault in a brake ECU can disable both the anti-lock brakes and the stability control without warning, and without any warning light or message to indicate that these systems are completely off. Fewer than 1000 Cadillac CT6 sedans from the 2019 model year with the four-cylinder and V-8 engines are also included. A total of 463,995 vehicles are affected.
