Tamil Nadu's new automobile and components policy 2014 envisages setting up of an exclusive auto city, India’s first, to cater to the needs of both domestic and global auto manufacturers in component designing, prototyping and manufacturing.

> 1,000 hectares of auto city

> Additional power capacity for the Auto Sector

> Automotive Industrial Development Centre (AIDC)

> Automotive Suppliers Park (ASP) for improved logistics

Congratulating the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, on launching a progressive policy, President ACMA, Harish Lakshman, said, “The announcement of the New Automobile & Auto Component Policy 2014 is indeed a welcome step, especially in light of the fact that the industry is passing through one of the most challenging phases. We hope that the policy will further bolster the confidence of the automotive industry in the state. Positive measures such as setting up of an auto city, the auto supplier Park, Automotive Industrial Development Centre (AIDC) etc. will attract fresh investments into the state as well as facilitate creation of the much needed talent pool to meet the long term skilled manpower requirement of the industry”.

“ACMA is delighted to be nominated as a member of the Automotive Consultative Committee and looks forward to making a positive contribution to the growth and development of the automotive industry in the State”, added Lakshman. Furthermore, the industry body also expressed satisfaction on the focus in the policy on infrastructure development which includes rail-port connectivity facilitating easy and speedy movement of consignment, effluent treatment plants, drainage, solid waste management, power, gas and water, among others.
