Excellent thread [clap]. Rated it 5*. Covered pretty much everything one can ask for. Honestly the package itself could have been better given the price point, especially the top end variant. AWD/4WD could have been the USP for Tuscon. I think Compass will take the cake now. If Jeep prices Compass right, I think Tuscon will have a massive competition. With this segment still in its nascent stage, there could be future launches as well. On the whole, better choices for customers of this segment.

Great review 350Z - excellent in-depth coverage of the model! And after going through it I came away feeling a general consensus with a lot of other people. That, for what is on offer, the OTR price for the 2wd AT diesel version (~31 L) is mildly preposterous[:D]. And the AWD version is not even in sight at the moment!

As I've said elsewhere earlier, this price difference between the local produce, M&M & TM, and the segment imports (21 L OTR for the XUV AWD(AT) W10 taken as the local produce median price for the segment, as against app 31+ L and above for the imports, i.e Tucson, Tiguan, CRV, Compass etc) comes as music to my ears. Because this would ensure that the XUV sales (& hopefully the Hexa too) would continue to lead the segment (the AWD variants only, since we are talking of SUVs & not large hatches on stilts!)[:)]. I am not including the Hexa in the local brigade only because it's a body-on-chassis structure & not a monocoque - otherwise it's a perfectly worthy example for inclusion.

And finally, I'll re-iterate again, that all the tech-guru arguments won't convince me that one lot is worth 10 L+ more than the other!

Great Review 350Z! I really adore this car and I am looking forward to driving it soon. I have heard comments like it is just a overgrown Creta and what not. Do you feel so? or Do you think this really does stand out from the Creta? Also does it hold on its own against the CRV?

Excellent review. Rated 5 star for the effort and an eye for the detail.

That being said, Tucson is another attempt by Hyundai in their daylight robbery attempt. Suddenly XUV seems like VFM. Yeah, if I have money to throw around, I'd rather buy big 3 or even Tiguan for its exclusivity rather than beefed up Creta. It offers bigger engine, better ride quality and a couple of niceties over Creta but that is not something to demand a premium.

Unlike Creta, Tucson is not setting sales chart on fire and nor it is meant to be. I guess Hyundai is just testing thw water or trying to fill up all available position so that a customer can't walk away from their showroom! I always think anything above Verna is overpriced by Hyundai and this proved it right once again.

But all that hate aside, I still applaud Hyundai afor bringing in such nice product and adding product lineups day by day.

Its nothing like the Creta except in pictures, dynamics and comfort are a totally different level
Im also mostly booking the car soon and as an ex CRV owner, yes it does compare pretty well to the CRV
Both have their own charm

Tucson is highly underrated imho
XUV/Hexa/Endeavour/Fortuner comparison is not justified imho since this car targets a very specific audience (includes me) who arent looking for mammoth cars neither tiny "premium" cars like X1,GLA and Q3

After years of the CRV, I still havent found many cars that compare to its comfort, quality and ease
Tucson is the only car that compares well so far

Compass legroom and headroom will surely be a major con though it checks out otherwise

Friend's car nearing 20k kms(less than 7 months). Drove the car yesterday and it is indeed a good car to drive. Yet to make a comparison with the jeep compass.

Mileage petrol automatic.
City - 6-7 kmpl.
Highway - 11-12 kmpl
mix usage - 8-10 kmpl

When driving in this mode the system determines intelligently that there is need for 4WD based on the terrain and the engine driving power automatically get distributed to all 4 wheels without the driver’s intervention.

The On demand 4WD Functioning system ensures better Fuel Efficiency as intelligent switching ON/OFF for 4WD system, the performance is optimized and there is low wear & tear of mechanical parts. TUCSON 4WD system also offers 4WD Lock mode which helps to activate the 4WD function manually based on user demand, resulting in a torque split of 50:50 between front and rear wheels.

Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) is an integral feature of TUCSON’s 4WD. It helps to transfer torque to the wheels that have the most grip resulting in improved cornering performance.

With over 4.5 million customers worldwide, TUCSON is one of the best-selling SUV’s across the world and a benchmark in the segment in India. TUCSON’s strong success is apparent from the overwhelming response it has received from experts and also from customers winning 7 big auto awards in India since its launch in November 2016.

Tucson is going to give tough competition to the segment. We can get GL Trim has most of the features required. With this exercise they actually adjusted 2-3 laks price downwards which I feel will pull in more buyers. All safety features in AT GL trim is welcome and I hope they do this for CRETA as well. Only Feature I feel is missing supervision cluster in this trim. Don't know how important it is but rest of other features are in this GL version. Good to see Hyundai adjusting quickly to give tough time to competition. Compared to Compass, this comes with 4 year warranty and 3 years free services and very good Hyundai's proven service network.

Do you see this as a potential upgrade for someone having a 2WD Duster? Is the performance and feature set worth the price which is double that of C-SUVs and 30-50% more than say an XUV.

With the 2WD price of the Tucson touching 20 L & the Fortuner 2WD price averaging 26 L & the comparative Jan '18 sales figures of 215 (Tucson) and 2136 (Fortuner) leaves one wondering if Hyundai is serious about the Tucson.
