Something i learned today. don't get every car serviced from the same mechanic or the service station.

Today gave my santro for service. After getting my verna serviced from them they are just completely different people.

Asked 350rs as labor for oil filter and oil change (not even the air filter was changed since it was in good condition) for the santro and i was like [surprise] i asked him sarcastically " did you wash my car as well ", he started laughing.

Told him i pay only 150rs for this work. He said oh yes , i thought some other work was also done.

Some work was done but he told me the money for that before telling me the cost for oil change.

Santro's gear shifts became hard , especially the 5th and reverse. Sometimes had to really struggle to engage these gears and there was a lot of play in the lever as well.

He said the bush or something has gone bad so asked him to replace it.
Gave the car to him and went back to collect the car after 3 hours.

Thank god , i went to take a TD of the car. I wanted to check the gear work. All seemed fine. Then a noise started coming from the front driver side wheel , mechanic was with me so stopped the car and saw that the fender lining was touching the tyre.

That seemed odd because i was not having that problem before. They put a jack to lift the car so i thought they did something while removing which damaged the lining.

I told him something (the jack) has caused thisand told him to put a screw so the problem could be solved.

After reaching , at the time of paying he said some more items needed to be changed which costed 120rs. I said ok since i believed him.

I paid him and when i was enetering the car , saw the fender was out from the place. That time i was sure they have done something wrong and the car got hit from the bottom.
Called him again and asked him what really has happened. He said it was like this only but i knew it wasn't.

Called the main mechanic and in the mean time the guy which was standing besides me said " see this was damaged"

I took a good look and the underbody was damaged. I got furious but he was adamant that nothing happened.

The main mechanic came and said o'll get this fixed , bring the car on tuesday. Apparently his denter didn't come todat [angry]

Odo at 127200kms.

Engine oil mobil 1(10w30) - 700 rs
Oil filter - 60rs
Denso spark plugs - 300 rs
Labor - 150rs

Gear kit - 130rs
Random thing which he bought - 130rs.
Labor given to fix the kit from other shop-150rs
Labor given to mechanic - 350 rs.

i10 has completed 78000 kms and santro has completed 130000 kms. both the cars need tyre replacement.

got the quotes as well.

For Santro : 155/20/R13

1. Apollo Amazer 4G - 2600/-
2. Yokohama A-Drive - 3000/-
3. Yokohama Earth 1 - 3150/-
4. Michelin XM2 - 3500/-
5. Bridgestone (don't remember the product ) - 3100/-

For i10 : 155/80/R13
1. Yokohama Earth 1 - 3300/-
2. Apollo Amazer 4G - 2800/-
3. Bridgestone - 3350/-

for santro i'm thinking yoko earth 1 and for the i10 i'm thinking amazer 4G. will keep updating.

Also added this side mirror. This is without any lever to adjust. Costed 550 rupees , hyundai genuine from a local car market. The one with the adjuster was 650 rupees but the mirror always used to fell within a month and the adjuster lever became useless after some time.

I installed it but didn't have any time to check. The stock ones were smaller than these so hopefully the rear view area is wide.

Updates on every car today [:D]

Santro @ 130600 kms.
Got new set of yokohama Earth 1 Tyres for 3000 per tyre.

Pictures here -www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/accessories-modifications/21574-tyre-upsize-hyundai-i10.html#post443735

i10 @ 79000 kms.
Got the car serviced today. Went to a bosch service center. Shouldn't have :p not because they were not good but because the charges were a little bit expensive than a local mechanic.

Didn't go to the usual mechanic because of a incident that i mentioned before. Service included
Engine oil
Oil filter
Air Filter
General service charges were 750rs. Less than hyundai but still high , i pay 200-400rs depending on the work to a local mechanic.
Dry cleaning - 750rs. Car really needed that.

Paid 3020rs.

Verna @ 22800 kms
Faced car first severe problem. Will share in my verna thread.

Update on the santro.

Odo at 131200kms.

Car was missing. It was so bad that the car was moving around 20kmph.

Went to Bosch and they found out a CNG part was making the troubles.

He put the original part which was not connected before and the car worked fine.

He quoted me 350rs for diagnosing and solving the problem. And they take 750 rupees for full service inuding this tuning and washing plus oil change.

Service was due in 400kms so got the servicing done as well.

And For the past few days I was feeling vibrations on the steering wheel while applying the brakes which meant the disc needs to be resurfaced again or time for new discs.

Asked them to check the discs and they said it can be repaired but the brake pads were needed to be replaced as well so asked them to go ahead.

Total damage to the pocket 4300rs including the CNG part.

Oil - Bosch 10w30 - 975rs
Oil filter - 110 rs
Air filter - 162 rs
Brake pads - 680 TVS brand (seems expensive)
Disc repair - 350rs
Brake switch - 50 rs
Brake overhaul - 400rs
General service - 750rs
CNG part emulator - 800rs.

Yokohama - What are the plus points of it when compared with Michelin Xm2
First and foremost is the price. Yokohama earth 1 was cheaper than xm2.

Many members suggested me to go with xm2 but didnt want to spend so much on tyres.

i don't have any experiences with xm2 and first time went with yoko.

The first thing i noticed was the improved grip level when cornering. I had to apply brakes while turning my santro but now on the same turns car goes without a tyre squeal [:)]

Both i10 and santro travels on different type lf roads so will update how much they will last.

apollo acceleres lasted 35k in i10 and 47k in santro with 2 tyres life with 5-7k kms.
