Hyundai i20 Active removed from website – Discontinued due to BS6 ?

The Hyundai i20 Active, a variant of the popular hatchback with rough road package, has been removed from Hyundai India’s official website.

This removal suggests that the automaker has decided against updating the variant to BS6 standard which is set to kick in from April 1, 2020. We reported earlier that Hyundai has recently discontinued petrol CVT and diesel variants of the Elite i20 premium hatchback. Only the petrol manual variants will be upgraded to BS6 standards as the company is gearing up to welcome the next-generation model soon.

Compared to the regular version of the hatchback, the Hyundai i20 Active featured different alloy wheels and crossover-like elements such as roof rails, front and rear silver scuff plates and black plastic body cladding. The soft-crossover shared its powertrain lineup with the regular hatchback. The petrol engine was a 1.2-liter unit which produced 82 hp and 115 Nm of torque. The diesel unit displaced 1.4-liter and dished out 89 hp and 220 Nm of torque. The former was equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission while the latter received a 6-speed manual unit.

Hyundai to expand aftersales network; focus on Tier-III and -IV towns

In an attempt to strengthen its footprint in India and gain market share as it launches a gaggle of new cars in 2020, Hyundai Motor India is applying a holistic strategy and plans to better its aftersales network to complement its sales operations.

The company is also currently conducting its Hyundai Happiness Camp – a one-week activity between February 20 and 26 – to offer a wide range of benefits including discounts on spare parts, labour and complementary top-wash to its customers in rural areas across the country.

"The Camp is an exclusive activity for Hyundai’s Rural Service Outlets (RSOs)," added Punnaivanam. During the Hyundai Happiness Camp, customers will be able to avail the following offers:

- Free 50-point car check-up
- Free top dry-wash
- 5% discount on mechanical parts for over 5-year customers
- Up to 30% discount on mechanical labour
- 20% discount on premium interior cleaning

Hyundai Motor India is a responsible and caring brand. The safety, health and hygiene of its employees, customers, business partners and the communities is of utmost priority in every situation.

Keeping this in mind, Hyundai Motor India Ltd will be taking the preventive counter-measure of suspending its Manufacturing operations at the Chennai facility from Monday, 23rd March 2020 till further notice to stop the spread of corona virus (COVID-19) - a global pandemic.

We will await further notifications from State Government to resume plant operations.

Additionally under the Hyundai Cares Program, HMIL has reiterated various initiatives aimed at promoting safety and welfare of all its stakeholders:-

1. 24*7 roadside assistance to customers in case of any emergency

2. Customers who are not able to avail vehicle warranty/ extended warranty/ Free Service due to health emergency or dealership shutdown in affected cities - HMIL will offer extended support of 2 months.

3. 1000 Doorstep advantage bikes / emergency road service cars to provide any assistance to customers

Coronavirus Lockdown: Hyundai Extends Warranty And Free Service Period By 2 Months

Hyundai Motor India has joined the list of carmakers who have announced plans to offer an extension on warranties and free services to customers as the nation fights the coronavirus outbreak. India is currently under a 21-day lockdown in order to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 or coronavirus. All showrooms, dealerships and other non-essential outlets are closed until April 14, 2020. So, if you are not able to use the free service due to health emergency or dealerships being shut due to the coronavirus lockdown, you'll still have two more months the avail the services.

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has extended its spectrum of CSR initiatives in support of India’s fight against COVID-19. In its endeavour to provide assistance to the Central and State governments, Hyundai will not only contribute towards different Relief Funds but is also prepping to provide the Indian Medical Fraternity with much needed protective and patient care equipment.

Hyundai To Re-Open Chennai Facility On May 6



Hyundai, the South Korean auto manufacturer will be re-opening its Chennai-based plants from May 6, 2020, onwards. India's second-largest car manufacturer will initiate the necessary preparations required for the vehicle production operations in the coming weeks. This move from Hyundai has been taken in accordance with the Union Government's decision to gradually reviving the economic activities in the country by allowing some relaxations in the lockdown measures. The government has announced relaxations in certain parts of the country, recognized as green and orange zones. The carmaker is eyeing to manufacture around 12,000 to 13,000 units this month.

Hyundai Resumes Production At Chennai Plant, Makes 200 Cars On Day 1



Korean car maker Hyundai has resumed manufacturing operations at its only plant in India located in Sriperumbudur, Chennai. Owing to the Coronavirus lockdown all operations at the facility were halted starting March 23, 2020. The company was able to make a total of 200 cars on the first day of production restart at the plant. Hyundai Motor India says this has been done by maintaining 100 % compliance to Social Distancing apart from adhering to all State & Central Government guidelines. With the start of production in shift operations, the carmaker is eyeing to manufacture around 12,000 to 13,000 units this month.

Hyundai new car buying, car service procedures – Detailed on video

Customers are advised to book their service appointments online and opt for digital payment facilities. There is also the pickup and drop service facility wherein the cars will be fully sanitized at the time of pick up and again while dropping them off at the customer’s premises. All employees will be thoroughly screened with thermal thermometers and all keys and touchpoints will be sanitized while social distancing will be maintained at all times.

Hyundai exports over 5000 units in May

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Saturday said it has exported over 5,000 units this month after resuming production at its Chennai-based plant on May 8. The company has reinforced its commitment to support the government's 'Make in India' vision with more than 5,000 export units for May, the automaker said in a statement.

"We have once again made a humble beginning towards normalcy by exporting more than 5,000 units in May. This is a testimony of Hyundai's resilient efforts towards localisation and to accentuate economic recovery," HMIL MD and CEO SS Kim said.
