My first post on an 'ICE' thread.

Guys I have a Sony CD Player in My WagonR with two speakers in dashboard.

I am planning to add a sub woofer to the system. Now please tell me how to do so?

Is the process as simple as connecting a wire from unit and connecting it to subwoofer? or I need some other equipment like amplifier etc?

I am total noob in ICE department so please pardon if this sound stupid.

Yes you will need amplifier, wiring kit, subwoofer and subbox(if not pre-enclosed)
You can buy either 4 ch amp and bridge 2 ch to sub and other 2 ch to speakers or just buy monoamp for subwoofer(better output).

But I have only two stereo speakers attached in front and want to add my home theater's subwoofer to it.

Should this work directly without amp as my rear channels are not in use.

Yes, it will work directly too. Adding on, Why don't you try Pioneer products. I am personally using pioneer amps & audio player & its simply owesome. In terms of pricing & servicing, pioneer is again best. Latest innovation, they have launched hi-tech Mixtrax technology that has taken music into new world.
