Re: Honda Stops Production of City. Brio To Be Next!

Honda has resumed the normal production of their cars and manufacturing 370 cars per day to clear the backlog. This is expected to increase further from next month onwards.

There will be no production of the Honda City in the month of August 2014. The production of Honda City will resume in first week of September 2014.
Honda Cars India has decided to shift the entire production of Honda City to its Tapukara plant in Distt. Alwar, Rajasthan, in order to meet the demand of its models.

By doing so apart from reduced Waiting Period, Honda will also increase localization for Jazz. This will result in competitive pricing as it shares most components from City. City currently has 90% localization. While many have opted for Top Versions (V, VX), Honda will be able to produce them more. Good news for City Buyers. Temporary stoppage of City production isn't a bad thing now. Honda has made the right decision IMO.

Do not forget to note Maruti's Ciaz would take booings in August with launch in September. If priced sensibly there could be a shift in customers to the Ciaz .
Maruti will price Ciaz cheaper then City. If they price it at par with City, it'll be a flip again. Maruti sees success with its cars when they are priced cheap. Let us wait for segment to hot up.

I always wondered the same when news emerged that City will be made in Noida and Jazz in Tapukara. Especially when City will be a mass market car and Noida was pushing its limits. With the models sharing the same platform wouldn't it have made more sense to make them in the same factory.

At least now, good sense has prevailed and Honda is moving City to Tapukara. IN an expanding plant, with additional shifts planned, this will benefit City and (future) Jazz customers a lot with lower costs and waiting periods. [clap]
