The company is also working on a small capacity diesel engine that might power the next-generation Honda Brio a downsized To downsize the 1.5-litre i-DTEC, the company will reduce one cylinder though the overall construction might remain similar. Since the 1.5-litre i-DTEC is already one of the most fuel-efficient engine in India, a smaller engine based on that will return an even better mileage.
Speculations are Honda India has imported the Brio diesel after testing.
Documentaion shows a 1.5 which is presumed diesel has arrived. The engine could be detuned for a lower power rating in Brio. Not sure how they will contain the noise level which has put off many customers from Amaze.
So, will Honda offer this 1.5 diesel in current Brio or will they wait for Next Gen which will be on sale sometime in 2016/17 and offer All New 1.2 L 3 cylinder Diesel & 1.0 Turbocharged Petrol ?
Either way it's a good thing that Brio will be getting diesel engine at last.
