(I doubt) the introduction of ethanol-blended fuel on all my 4-stroke carb bikes
I suspect the same sometimes. FE has also come down very slightly. But then it could be all in my head.

I didn't know Ethanol blend had that much impact. Can't imagine how things are gonna be in a Fuel injection engines.
They have added 10% of substance which is not tested or recommended by engine manufacturer during the design of these old vehicles. In the books of those old engines, this is akin to 10% Adulteration.
Sadly India does not have separate nozzles.
In some countries they have 5~6 nozzles and you can choose Ethanol-free, Flex fuel, Different octane levels and so on.

BS4 engines can take E10 fuel safely. Beyond that ethanol will damage engine and pipes, fuel lines etc.
So far it's E10. Soon it's going to be E20 every where. Then all cars, including sold now, will suffer badly.

In cars what if we change fuel filters every 10000kms instead of 20000kms? Would it help against E20 wear out effects?
Fuel filter changing wont help at all. It's not dirty fuel that they are going to give. Its different ethanol percentage what is going to be supplied, which will be E20 instead of E10.
It's going to go through the fuel filter to everywhere in the engine, till it gets burned out from the exhaust, damaging whatever rubber and plastic it encounters along the way. Especially if that rubber and plastic was not designed to handle E20 fuel, which actually at present ,is not, in 99% of cars on road, including those that are sold now.

This topic has serious implications on/for every car and bike owner. I would encourage members to continue the discussion Here

DIY Engine oil change.
Oil filter and spark plugs already changed a month back. BS6 Activa 125 requires 5W30 engine oil. Please be careful,as I have seen mechanics filling 10W30 oil of the BS4 Activa, into BS6 engine, during routine service.
Moreover newer gen BS6 requires only 550 ml engine oil. My active was overfilled to 750ml in ASS during 1st service.

Sealed container. Seal just broken. Note the can is already 600ml and not 800ml as the earlier pack.

This oil is pricier. This seal is inside the cap

Please note JASO MA 5/30 should be used in BS6 and NOT JASO MC

Sump bolt is 12 size

Activa after the service. Needs a wash.

Tools used in DIY.
This T spanner was always successful in opening the bolt. This time it failed. The mechanic tightened it by superhuman strength.

IMG-20230408-WA0005.jpg

This is Genuine Induro socket set with ratchet handle. This came in handy.
12 no socket removed to work upon the bolt.

IMG-20230408-WA0020.jpg

Lot more torque generated by longer handle

I had to take help from my son to tilt the scooter to one side in order to fill the new oil. This step I dont like as chance of oil spillage is high while filling.
It's a very odd angle while filling. You simply cannot do it alone if the scooter is standing straight/not tilted at all. Or if you have a curved funnel with pipe. That will do. Or some other jugaad.
