I Guess and many people guessed the reason to kill the Amby. They deliberately killed the brand in the midst of make over while making new models including a pick-up and a sub-4 meter sedan. The reason is real estate. The property in the heart of the Kolkata city costs crores and the reds backed unions will not allow to shift the manufacturing unit nor modernize the unit. hence they had to kill the brand to liquidate the property.
