once you get your booking done, he is under obligation to provide you with the VIN number to the alloted vehicle.
do not budge and do a detailed PDI prior to completing the entire transaction.

No, the case is different with PUNTO, they allot a vehicle only after full payment is done. This is because PUNTO is low mover in terms of sales. It have happened that people have booked it and then cancel it, and then dealers have hard time to sell it off. So they take entire payment and then they allot vehicle to you and then VIN number is provided.
Same happened to me as well.

Hello Sidewinder, thanks for the wishes, dying to get hands on Punto.
All got mess, D-day was 27th Feb 13, it gone for TOSS, will explain all in Ownership thread once Punto is delivered.

Any chance can booking could be cancelled after making full payment to dealer.
What will be the charges/ penalties to bear by the owner?

Finally on 7th March 2013 got delivery of Punto Dynamic Diesel.
Will post the detail review in appropriate section.
Very much impressed with the Turbo (haven't driven much in last 3 days, just getting familiar with car and earning Hands on experience)
