F-Y i would suggest you to follow the Bangalore-Mysore-Madikeri-Sampaje-Sulliya-Puttur-B.C.Road-Bantwal.
Till know after purchase of my hawk, i have never done the Sakleshpur as my uncle used to update that the roads in that stretch is really bad, though its being constructed again & again.
If you follow the sakleshpur route it takes 326 kms to B.C.Road + 2 kms Bantwal.
Via Madikeri it takes another 40 kms more but its worth as your vehicle will be in good condition.
But a few stretch after madikeri has a few potholes upto sampaje which is not that bad at all.
But if one struck's in Sakleshpur Ghat, its a nightmare.
Uppinangadi roads are not that good.

Bantwal has been messed teribly with road digged for pipe works.

Nice pictures Mukesh! And again i have been to the Mysore-Mangalore highway before! Excellent road but i find the speed breakers in that road in between to be annoying!
Not really dhaya because i am a frequent traveller on this road.
I have done a dozen of trip on this stretch.
Yes but i must admit once there was a speed breaker , i was doing around 120 kmph.
Suddenly i saw a hump , Thanks to ABS the hawk stopped just before the hump.
If you can remeber this hump was just before the coffee day on that stretch.

Madikeri is a really nice place, The weather is similar to Ooty.
The Ghats are really breezy.
And its a best place for spices & dry fruits.

The places around Madikeri are: Abbi falls, Dubare (Elephant Camp), Lots of resorts are on the prowl, with a dedicated tracks for 4X4.
One such resort is Coorg Wildlife Society resort.

Some pics of my previous visits to madikeri.

Now coming back to my travelogue, I was staying in Bantwal(Mangalore).
Now my cousin had his exams & we could not leave him and visit Goa, But instead we thought of going near by places , so we went to Karkala.
It was temples mainly & a visit to my relatives house there.

The day started with rain, rain & rain.......

All the 8 members + 1 junior got ready for the trip.

The route followed to Goa from Mangalore was: Bantwal(Mangalore)-Karkala-Manipal-Udupi-Kundapur-Kollur-Bhatkal-Murdeshwar-Karwar-Cancona(Goa)-Madgaon-Ponda-Panjim.

We left early around 6 am, By the time of 8 reached Udupi .
Had stopped for breakfast to Diana Hotel in Udupi, after darshan of Shri lord krishna.
Some pics from Udupi's krishna temple.

Idol of Lord Ganesha sculptured with fruits is a commendable creativity, but I personally don’t prefer the birds to be kept in cage.

The route to Goa via Bhatkal, the stretch has been bad with huge potholes.
If one has to go via this route please make it before evening as these potholes are visible.
The route i would suggest is via Shimoga-Jog Falls-Honnavara-Kumta-Ankola-Karwar-Cancona. This stretch is just superb.

A few pics from Goa visit.
