google-auto-delete-user-data-1593065304.jpg

We all know Google collects our data to make the user experience better. But that is just the bright side we are looking at and not the security and privacy concerns being raised. To make things more secure and better, Google has now decided to change the way it collects and stores users' data and will now delete it by default. Read on to know more about it.

Announced via a blog post, the new Google privacy feature will now auto-delete your location History, search, voice and YouTube activity data by default. So, if you allow access to your location history, search history, and more data, you will be able to enable the auto-delete option from the Activity settings. However, if you have already done that, your settings won't change but Google will give you a constant reminder about the auto-delete controls so that you can change them whenever you want.

Google Chrome for Android finally gets 64-bit version support

Starting with Chrome 85 version, phones running Android 10 or later will receive a 64-bit version. A look at the chrome: // version confirms this from the Chrome Dev and Chrome Canary applications.

According to statistics for April 2020, only 8 percent of devices currently use Android 10. While all the rest are “stuck” on older versions of the OS. Fortunately, Google will extend support for 64-bit Chrome to earlier versions of Android. Therefore, the number of devices that can enjoy this new version at the start will be very limited.

The change from 32 to 64 bits was already experienced many years ago in desktop operating systems. Going to 64 bits means that the browser will be able to process more data per second. Moreover, it will be faster while taking better advantage of the large amounts of RAM that today’s mobile phones have.

Google Maps gets an all-new feature; This will make traveling faster

Google Maps has started testing a new feature wherein users will be able to see traffic lights on the interface. This is likely to be made available while navigating as well as exploring through areas on the Maps. With a feature like that, users can plan their travel routes accordingly. This is showing up for Android users as of now.

The feature is still in the testing phase, so it’ll be hard to tell if Google will launch it for the public anytime soon. Offering traffic signals could pose issues for traffic authorities. This will be similar to how Google decided to show speed cameras on Maps for users in India few months back. Eventually we noticed the feature was taken down, most likely because it was alerting users about presence of cameras on their way.

Google has started rolling out a new feature for its mobile search users in India called People Cards. The feature, which has been testing in the country for a couple of years, allows users to create a visual visiting card of sorts. This feature will help small business owners, influencers, entrepreneurs and the like showcase important information online and be discovered easily

A card will consist of a user’s photo, location and profession. Other information like home town, social media profiles, contact details and education qualifications can also be added. The feature only works on mobile search for now. Only one People Card can be created per account. Google claims spam will be combated through a combination of human review and sophisticated automated systems. The search giant will give users the ability to flag impersonation, abuse and low-quality content.

Google Assistant now allow users to send audio messages to their contacts

In a blog post, Google disclosed that users will now be able to send audio messages to contacts using Google Assistant. That will come in handy in scenarios where one is too tired to type on a phone or when the hands can’t be used to hold a phone for any reason. With Google Assistant, the owner can then use their voice to dictate a message.

According to Google, Voice-messaging is the modern-day walkie-talkie and is the easiest way to send a quick note to friends and family. The company also hinted that the feature will be available on Android smartphones and you won’t need to hold down the little mic icon to record the audio message. The feature will be available in English-speaking countries around the globe, as well as in Portuguese in Brazil.
