Re: Mileage Marking / Rating Stars To Be Implemented from 2015

Here’s how the upcoming mileage markings might look like. This image is sourced from Facebook. Seems to be a PS Job though.

The above image is of BEE Star rating for electric appliances. But sooner such code comes into effect, the better.

Fuel Economy Star Rating w.e.f 01st April 2016

Friends,

In a move to help the car buyers, the Indian Govt. has properly come out with a viable solution of providing a tamper proof "Fuel Economy Star Rating" sticker on every car w.e.f 01st April 2016. This shall ensure that the buyers are not conned by the dealer by quoting unreal FE figures to close a sale. The sticker could be similar to the one we have on our electric home appliances like AC and Fridge stating the star rating electricity consumption.

To be precise, ‘every manufacturer or importer of a vehicle … manufactured or imported on or after April 1, 2016 shall affix on the vehicle a FESR label’ reads a draft notification from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

That is interesting news. [:)]

It would be helpful especially in the entry level (under 5 lac) segment as majority of buyers are less informed about the car and more concerned about the mileage. But since these figures would be ARAI figures (?), which are themselves very unreal in Indian conditions, the actual use of this strategy is not much.

And if this comes as a sticker, I can only imagine the clutter on the windshield (first the RFID tag, then CNG and now this). People will have to drive with their heads out of the window in near future! [lol]

It maybe stuck on the rear quarter glass or the rear windshield too. Lets wait and see the outcome.
