The new Fiesta will incorporate styling changes on the outside. Engine line-up will remain the same. Target price of Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Ford will launch a facelifted version of the Fiesta, based on the European model, early next year.

The car will get significant styling updates like an aggressive Aston Martin-like front grille with chrome slats that follows the new family look, a re-profiled front bumper and fog lamps, revamped headlamps and a new bonnet design. The rear will also be revised with new tail-lights that are a touch larger than before.

In terms of engine options, the carmaker will stick with the current line-up, and this means that Ford’s acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that does duty in the EcoSport will not make it into the Fiesta. Hence it will come powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 107bhp and 14.28kgm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that puts out 89bhp and 20.8kgm. The petrol variants will come with the option of either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic, while the diesel will only be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox.

The good news is that Ford will have more local content in the new Fiesta, which should help it price the car competitively. Ford could even price it as low as Rs 6.99 lakh for the base petrol variant, but the struggling Rupee could make it difficult for Ford to meet that price point.

The car hasn’t fared well in India thanks to the wrong pricing strategy at the time of launch, and despite a subsequent price cut, sales haven’t picked up for the saloon either. On average, the car’s monthly sales just about reach double-digit figures, with the car selling a paltry 564 units in the last six months.

However, the new look, combined with a keener starting price, will help Ford put up a better fight against rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento and Honda City.

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

These Ford guys are trying to make their sedans look like SUV? Why? Personally I dont like the Open Mouthed stance for a Sedan.

Sedans should be kind of elegant, smooth, slick.

Now Hyundai got it right with the fluidic design concept. They could apply to their hatches and on their sedans.

but this open-mouth design in ecosport cannot be replicated on the Sedan. IMHO

I even hope it comes with a slightly longer wheelbase - may be ford should rename this car specifically for india, the name fiesta now carries the baggage of past mistakes.
Btw i hope they bring in the focus - i find it a brilliant design - why cant we have it !

the redesigned Fiesta is just designed cosmetically different and rear legroom is same as before no change at all but they have scooped the rear of from passenger seats so that the legroom is on par with Figo but nothing more than that, Ecosport will have more legroom than fiesta, but what I liked about new facelifted fiesta is interior which now has the prowess to compete the vento in terms of quality and design of Verna and the exterior rear three quarter of sedan is made thinner by adding raised boot and plastic cladding that creates a less bulkier back illusion unlike current gen Fiesta sedan and new tech features like my Key,better cabin insulation, softer suspension setup by a slight margin to increase low speed ride comfort and the inclusion od super high quality leather seats in the highest options package, all these are what came to USA and if something like this happens in India Fiesta will have a fair deal of share
The Maruti Suzuki sx4 face lift code named Maruti YL1 is a sure winner, It will do wonders in c segent sedan market, so its better Ford releases fiesta facelift before Maruti cannibalizes the market
About the Focus its better Focus dosent enter Indian market as it just has legroom comparable to a VW vento nothing more than that so in that c+ segment Laura,Fluence,Jetta,Corolla,Cruze all have better legroom than Focus so its better Ford brings the Escort to India than Focus which will be a great addition to Fords success, but engine options is a big trouble I really wonder how VW does the 2.0 diesels so cheaply while all other brands struggle to bring their 2.0 and higher displacement diesel engines to market, If Ford brings Focus with 2.0 TDCi its going to be a hit sure,1.6 TDCi sucks and the 2.0 NA 168 bhp petrol engine is as smooth as silk and has superb drivability as well, Hope Ford dosent mess with Focus here in legroom conscious Indian market

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

If Ford knows it can't compete with C segment rivals on legroom, it is sure to load it with great interiors. I'm expecting a class leading touchscreen HU like MyFord Touch.

The exterior styling, esp. the open mouthed grille gives it a sporty look, but the TiVCT and TDCi aren't exactly known for the sporty performance. In contrast, Vento/Rapid have a rocket like 1.6 TDI engine, but it's exterior styling is so un-sporty.

That kind of dissonance between exterior styling and engine performance is what creates ambiguous positioning and ends up hurting sales numbers.

If Ford had announced the Fiesta hatch for India, I'd have skipped Ecosport and waited for that in 2014. The Fiesta styling suits the hatch much better.

Fiesta with 1.0L Ecoboost wins Womens' World Car of the Year 2013 ...

Womens World Car of the Year - The Winners

Judging for the Women's World Car of the Year is complete and the supreme winner for 2013 is the Ford Fiesta 1.0l Eco-Boost.
...
Commenting on some of the reasons for their selection UK judge, Victoria MacMillan Bell, says Ford's styling gets better and better.

"The Fiesta has such a high-end look and feel to it. Pair this with the multi award-winning 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine achieving range figures and performance never before seen and this very stylish pocket rocket wins in every category, with bells on."

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

we may hope so this refresh model may grab the attention of indian buyers?

But ford have to re think their brand positioning of present and old gen fiesta at least they have to rebrand the Fiesta Classic as a Ford Ikon(if posible) because fiesta Ikon is a previous Gen of Fiesta Classic, So in my Opinion its not a big deal to get back Ikon model using fiesta classic body shell,

it is good positive move because we can see few more ikon brand in production and fiesta brand will sit above ikon brand

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

I dont think Ford is going to return the name Ikon, since Ford has new Figo and Figo sedan(replacing Ford Fiesta Classic) somewhere in 2015 so that will make the 4-6 lakh onroad petrol hatchback and 4.5-7 diesel hatchback and Figo sedan will cover 5-7 lakh petrol 1.0 non turbo ecoboost petrol and 6-8 lakh onroad price for 1.5 TDCi(75 hp and 190 NM @2000 rpm) diesel Figo sedan

The Ecosport will have the 7-11.5 lakh CSUV category and the Fiesta sedan will be 7.5-12 lakh with 1.5 TIVCT and 1.5 TDCi, i am really eager to know how Ford will place Ecoboost Fiesta sedan if its to make to India

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

I liked that big open-mouthed grill of the new Fiesta. It is kind of different from the regular sedans we see regularly.

As 1989 mentioned, the black cladding and chopping off side overhangs have made it look less bulky and more sporty.Coming to engines, Ford should offer the 1.5L in a higher state of tune, but Ecoboost will also be available which could be the issue.

Still, Ford should offer the diesel motor with more grunt or may be offer it in two states of tune!!

I quite like the new design. Seems they have picked up some design ques from Aston Martin as the face seems very similar to DBS/DB8/DB9 (see image).

Better design than the current Fiesta and possibly one of the best in the Indian market today.

The 1.5 petrol will have same tune as Ecosport and the diesel will have same 90 bhp but whats to be known is how they tune it, tune 1.5 TDCi the same way as in Ecosport we have a diesel drivers car and tune the ecoboost Fiesta the way they have done it in Europe and dont mess up with ECU here in India again the best petrol drivers car money can buy below 11 lkah INR
Also Fiesta facelift will have lesser price tag than current gen Fiesta starts at 6.99 lakhs 2012 Fiesta started at 7.46 lakhs,so expecting a 1.0 Ecoboost Titanium OPtional Fiesta with price tag onroad not exceeding 11 lakh

Actually I dont think Ford copied design here its their own design, Ford Puma almost looks like an Aston Martin and it was there even before 1999, the Ford Thunder Bird and lots of models have the looks and its the most modern evolution.

Yeah, I too think the same.I just wished they offer something more powerful to go well with those quirky looks and styling!!

Anyways, the motors are by themselves good and have enough power for our roads.
Yes, the pricing is sure to start somewhere from 6.9 territory. Ford has learnt the pricing lesson in a harsh way with the current Fiesta.

Looking forward for a well-built sedan at a good price![;)]
