The bike looks far better than the concept. About the specs, i am confident of attractive figures. 125cc, 15BHP, disc brakes, thats a unique combination. The only thing which must be taken care of is the pricing which will be the key factor for the success of Failure/success of this new experiment in indian bike markets.

Re: Duke 125cc by Bajaj-KTM, Success or a Failure?

hello everyone,

few minutes back i have registered in the forum, and this my first reply.

the first picture of bike in the begining of the topic is KTM 125 duke STUNT version.

the KTM 125 duke is not meant for indian market.
Bajaj-KTM wont sell the bike in india even if you want one of those.
Its only the KTM200(22hp) duke or KTM250 duke which will be sold in india.
its mainly meant for european markets, where you can ride a bike upto 125cc capacity only with a car's license and without 2 wheeler license, and it is also meant for teenagers aged 16years. they can buy this bike without any insurance. The speed limit is only meant for european markets.

so when it comes to the bike
two people can easily travel on the bike with quite a bit of sqeeze.

its one of the best 125cc 4 stroke bike ever designed.
its 125cc, 15bhp(red lined at 10.5k rpm), 4valve DOHC, EFI, liquid cooled, 6gear bike.
its brakes are made by BYBRE (indian version of BREMBO, the worlds leading brake manufacturer) both front and back wheel has disc brakes, suspension made by WP(one of the best off-road bike suspension technologies), its tyres MICHELIN(worlds best), EFI made by BOSCH(worlds best), and of course the engine is designed by KTM(which makes one of the worlds best off-road motorcycle engines). its has TREELIS frame made by chrome-molybdenum alloy, and sub rame for engine made by steel. the frame is very light and very rigid, its one the best frame designs .
its a liquid cooled engine to reduce the engine weight and increase the cooling performance.
it has a forged crankshaft and con rod for lighter reciprocating weight and a balancer shaft for reducing the vibrations.
it has underslung exhaust to keep the weight distribution close to its C.G for superb handling, big tyres for better grip around corners. aluminium swing arm with internal webbing for light weight and good looks, a mono cross suspension at the rear, both front and back suspensions are adjustable.

in UK its costs around 3695 pounds which is 600 pounds less than YAMAHA YZF125 which is widely used there by teenagers.

BAJAJ-KTM 125 is a very successfull product as the bike is huge hit in european markets, its impressed quite a lot of critics. its mainly meant for the tenagers.

the bike is not a copy of YAMAHA FZ, its designed on the similar lines of KTM 690 DUKE.

Re: Duke 125cc by Bajaj-KTM, Success or a Failure?

thanks for info kathi and well guys! duke's launch is on auto expo 2012..

“During the Delhi Auto Expo next year, we will be launching the first 200-cc Duke bike in India. We expect to sell 25,000 to 30,000 units in India in the first year of launch. After one year, we will launch the 350-cc Duke in India. All the bikes that we produce in India will be global models. Now we are looking to export KTM bikes from Bajaj facility to other emerging markets like Thailand, Malaysia, and Brazil,” Stefan Pierer, CEO, Cross Industries (Holding Group of KTM) and KTM Sportmotorcycle, said.

The KTM Duke 200 will be officially on sale in January 2012 with Bajaj Auto showcasing the performance machine at the Auto Expo. Just like all high end Bajaj bikes, the Duke 200 too would be sold through the company’s pro-biking retail units. However, these pro-biking showrooms will not feature a single Pulsar and will be rebranded with KTM logos. Obviously this won’t be done for long as the next generation Pulsars will be sold through pro-biking outlets. The specification of the Duke 200 are no secret and now thanks to Rohit Paradkar, the pricing too seems to be out in the open. The KTM Duke 200 could be priced between Rs. 1.25-1.31 lakhs (ex-showroom, India), which is an absolute steal for a bike of this caliber (no pun intended). No Bajaj logos will feature on the Duke and the Chakan based automaker is very clear about keeping KTM, Bajaj and Kawasaki motorcycles as entirely different brands, even though they are manufactured/assembled at the same place.

The KTM Duke 200 is powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine which produces 25.51 BHP of peak power at 10,000 RPM and 20 Nm of peak torque at 8000 RPM. We estimate a 0 – 100 kmph time of just 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 150 kmph. Weighing just 137 kgs, the Duke 200 is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and features tasteful bits like USD telescopic forks, monoshock, investerted die-cast ultra-lighweight swingarm and wide rear tyre (150 mm). All this ensures that the Duke 200 will be a rocket on rails and will immediately set the sales chart on fire. The Honda CBR250R will soon meet its match as the Duke 200′s bookings are expected to start anytime soon.
