Friends,

The intent of this thread is to understand that where has the true essence of a automobile disappeared in the sea of automatic gearboxes, power windows, projector lamps et al. Are we driving 4-wheeled robots instead of car?

Below are a few features which our earlier cars had and in due course these essential features were discontinued to make the cars convenient rather than keeping them as a depiction of one's style!

1) The Chrome ringed headlamps used in Fiat's and Ambassadors.

2) The bench seat in front

3) Steering mounted gear lever

4) Manual Window roller

The amby always looks hot with the front sun shade.i do miss that, not just that the entire car itself actually.i miss the ashtrays that used to be there in each doors which were chromed. awesome. when we were kids we used to keep our savings in there. the chrome fuel cap on the amby that was cool.what i really miss is the steering ring type horn in premier padmini. That was a style statement then for a car isn't it. one more thing to add, The cars were rock solid all made of superior quality metal, No plastics whatsoever on the outside. That's what's missing now a days.

The open-able front quarter glass in Amby, I think Padmini also had the same.
Omni used to have a vent just under the head lights below the dash, which we used as A/C when I was a kid. The later gen Omnis didn't have them.
There used to be cigarette lighter which will be plugged in the power sockets.
The A/C switch in palio functioned independently of the blower. Without the blower switched ON, the compressor will run.[:)]
