Amazing DIY, Varun. That’s some creativity. Let me attempt to do this on my car whenever I’m free. To how much extent it has helped?
Thanks, I used to get rattling sound from my hatch door when I used to increase the volume..also rear doors used to rattle when run over pot holes/rough roads now it has been vanished (may be upto 85%).

Thanks for your comments, surely will update as soon as I finish it for the front doors..[:)]

Varun, this is what I'm thinking of doing to my NHC. The only concern I had is thickness of the mat. Let me try this next week end.

Re: DIY: Cheap Method To Car Damping Using Yoga Mats

I did it to the front doors. I have missed a few spots on the right side door, but on the left door I feel I have done a good job.

Please see pictures below, In M800 the main causes of rattling noise in doors are
  1. Metal rods (thin ones that lock/unlock the doors) touch the sheet metal
  2. windows glass/roller hitting the sheet metal
  3. Metal rods hitting each other
  4. Loose bolts/buts holding the doors to the chassy

The left door in my car doesnt produce that squeaking noise every time I go over pot holes! The right side door, I forgot to put the mat pieces between the rod & the sheet metal (on the inside area).

But this is worth the time spent on it, definately reduces the large/loud noises easily.

Cleaned the metal interior part with kerosene (great cleaning stuff)

These are the gaps I was mentioning (metal rods hitting each other/ sheet metal)

Yoga mat - 1 Nos - Rs.235, good thickness, 50cmx80cm

Glue - Fevicol SR - Rs.40 for 100ml (more than enough if done only on doors)

Will continue with rear doors soon. Hatch door will have to wait, as I need to copy the DIY of Varun - Remote Hatch & Petrol lid opener) [;)]

Hi Varun,
Hats off for your excellent creativity. But be careful; Dynamat people may be cursing you!

What could be the life time of this sort of damping. How much one would get if they have done it professionally.
