Sub 4m category is length <4m + Engine size <1200cc (for petrol)
Excise duty is different for >4m + <1500cc and >4m + >1500cc segments as well.
first is correct and there is no any excise difference of engine cc on vehicles more than 4m as per my limited knowledge, is there any link or govt excise info to support your second statement ?
that will be helpful and add to knowledge of all.

I got below link for excise duty applicable in 2014 : yes you are correct with both statments.

Thanks Vibhor.
34612 nos ! The Swift platform rules Indian Market. Yet, the car that receives performance medal in December sales is Bolero; whopping 54% jump over Nov 2014 figures while contributing to 56% of Mahindra's sales.

City @ 6012 and Ciaz @ 3731 in Dec 2014. Thus spake City.
City @ 6012 and Ciaz @ 2000. My prediction for next Dec sales figures.

Who picked up that lone Santro Xing ? He can proudly say "I was one of a kind in Dec 2014" [;)]

Tata Car sales is 17% up compared to Dec'14. They sold 11637 cars against 9956 in Dec'14.

If other cars are assumed to be sold in same numbers, Zest+Bolt would have done 5600 in Jan'15 against 3908 in Dec'14. Though clear picture will come once individual sales figures are out.

If you see closely, Compact cars manufacturing for Jan is above 14K, which means Feb Sales figures would mean that Passenger Vehicles sales would be around 16K -17K mark (tata is currently following low inventory model and building as per the requirement). They have built around 18K cars in Jan so I believe the sales would be around similar levels
