Bhai log, at the time when I heard it was crash tested as per norms during the time of it's launch 3.5 yrs back I too couldn't believe it then as well. At the time when it got 4 stars in NCAP I was happy to re-consider my views on MSIL's new gen cars but soon after when their new Swift was tested and the result came out, the story was back to square one. It might have been the Nexon's 5 star rating that possibly prompted MSIL to get the Brezza tested and since they already knew it complied with crash norms so they weren't afraid of loosing face for it otherwise until Nexon's crash test why did MSIL not got the Brezza tested between 2016-2017? Why in 2018 only post the Nexon's test did Maruti Suzuki went ahead with the test? It was because Nexon was a better car than Brezza in all possible performance parameters for Diesel engine and on top of it Nexon got 5 stars in NCAP. So to avoid any loss of customers of it MSIL had made this move. All I can say is, perhaps Brezza's NCAP result was a "one-off" incident or in slang language a "fluke"

Regards
Akash

Volkswagen Sharan scores four stars in crash test despite rear door detaching

volkswagen-sharan-euro-ncap-pole-crash-after-test-dec-2019-1.jpg

The Volkswagen Sharan has received four stars out of five in its Euro NCAP crash test, despite its rear passenger door detaching during impact assessments.
NCAP’s side pole impact test is the organisation’s toughest assessment, and sees a car propelled at 20mph into a 25cm-diameter pole designed to mimic a tree or telegraph post. NCAP says the types of collisions this simulates “are severe and the frequency of death or serious injury is high.”

During the Sharan’s side pole assessment, the rear nearside passenger door almost entirely detached from the car’s body, presenting a “risk of occupant ejection”, according to assessors. Despite this, the Sharan was awarded four stars overall, meaning it was judged to offer “overall good performance in crash protection”. The Sharan was rated 89 per cent for the protection if provides adult occupants, and 78 per cent for child occupant protection

Tesla Model X has been described as ‘stand-out performer’. It’s safety assist score was a heady 94 percent, the same score that the Model 3 got earlier this year. The big Tesla also got 98 percent for adult occupant protection. That makes it a contender for Best in Class for 2019.

“Well done to Tesla and the other five stars performers for not only bringing best in class performance in testing but also making safety systems accessible and standard across the European market,” said Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP’s secretary general.

sizer.ashx?n=http%3a%2f%2fcdni.autocarindia.com%2fExtraImages%2f20191218064635_audi-q8-euro-NCAP.jpg

The last round of the 2019 Euro NCAP tests has just concluded. From among the vehicles tested, the Audi’s new flagship SUV, the Q8, secured the maximum possible safety rating of 5 stars. These ratings are valid for the Q8 in 45 TDI, 50 TDI and 55 TSI quattro tiptronic forms and for both left- and right-hand layouts. As is the norm for the Euro NCAP, the ratings are based on the entry-level variant of the model in question, hence, the safety features on the Q8 tested includes eight airbags, seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, speed assist, lane keep assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for pedestrians and cyclists in both city and inter-urban settings, and more, as standard.

Ford Puma awarded 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP

ImageResizer.ashx?n=http%3a%2f%2fcdni.autocarindia.com%2fExtraImages%2f20191219015738_004.jpg

The new Ford Puma is today the latest Ford model to receive a 5-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP independent crash test authority.

The SUV-inspired Puma crossover has earned the highest-possible rating under the more stringent testing protocols introduced in 2018. Puma – including Puma EcoBoost Hybrid variants – is one of eight Ford passenger car models now offering 5-star safety for customers.

Euro NCAP awarded Puma high scores for adult and child occupant protection – with full points in both the side barrier test and more severe side pole tests. Technologies including Pre-Collision Assist with Active Braking, Intelligent Speed Limiter and Lane-Keeping System were also commended.

new-kia-seltos-crash-test-safety-india-2.jpg

The mid-size SUV (compact-crossover, technically) became an instant success and the South Korean brand is seeing strong numbers on the sales chart. Some of the main highlights of the Kia Seltos are its looks, wide range of variants, equipment levels and dynamics (for its class). Now, the compact-SUV has accomplished a new feat by acquiring a 5-star safety rating in ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) crash tests.

new-kia-seltos-crash-test-safety-india-1.jpg

The Kia Seltos scored 85% in Adult Occupant Protection and 83% in Child Occupant Protection; the two main categories of a conventional NCAP safety test. In addition to this, the Kia Seltos managed to get 70% in Safety Assist and a respectable 61% in Vulnerable Road User Protection.

Mahindra XUV300 Scores 5 Stars In Global NCAP Crash Tests

pegt6b4o_mahindra-xuv300_625x300_21_January_20.jpg

We have seen Indian cars scoring 5 stars in Global New Car Assessment Program crash tests in the Tata Nexon and Tata Altroz and definitely Tata has set the bar high for passenger safety with its cars. But now, Mahindra joins Tata in finally having a 5 star rated car and it is the Mahindra XUV300 which scored 5 stars in the latest round of global NCAP crash tests. In fact, not only does the XUV300 score 5 stars but it outshines the Tata duo, scoring more points than the other two. The Mahindra XUV300 scored a maximum of 16.42 points out of a possible 17, while the Altroz scored 16.13 points and the Nexon scored 16.06 points. This makes the Mahindra XUV300 the safest tested Indian car by Global NCAP. It scored 5 stars in adult occupant safety and 4 stars in child safety, which is the highest rating that any Indian car has received so far. The XUV300 scored 37.44 points out of a possible 49 points while the Nexon and the Altroz scored 25 and 29 points respectively.

Good to see the Indian Duo slugging it out in the safety arena. Not only that, they are complementing and healthy competing each other. Thats very good sign. Wish they get the patronization from Indian junta.
