Today, Nissan has officially commenced the production and rolled out first ever Datsun Go from its plant at Oragadam, Chennai.
Pointers From Event:
> Datsun Go sales begin from March 2014 in Indian market.
> It will be showcased in different colors at upcoming Auto Expo.
> The car is manufactured on Line 2 of Renault-Nissan Plant, Orgadam.
> Datsun Go is claimed to be positioned at a uniquely accessible price point for Indian customers.
> Fact: Over one hundred local manufacturers from India are supplying the components to build the Go.
> Datsun benefits from Renault-Nissan’s alliance using latest facilities and local supplier base by building it in their plant.
> Renault-Nissan’s Orgadam plant has becomes the first manufacturing facility in the world to produce latest Datsun models.
> The company is contemplating to introduce the car in various other markets including Russia and Indonesia later in 2014.
> Present at the ceremony were several local dignitaries, including Thiru.P.Thangamani Minister of industries, Tamil Nadu) and Masanori Nakano (Consul General of Japan).
Personal Observations:
> "Go" will be the competitor to the Alto / Alto 800
> It doesn't come equipped with body color mirrors.
> It has a single windshield wiper like Toyota Etios Liva
> Go in red color looks really cool when compare to Blue.
> The car share similar specifications as of Micra / Pulse.
> However it will be priced lower with minimum features.
> Pricing is yet to be announced but speculated figure is Rs.3 – 5 Lakh.
