Well I have came across Uttarakhand roadways Volvos doing upto 115 kph many times especially during midnight but this Shivneri is simply mind blowing as well as extremely dangerous too for such a big vehicle.
In the above shown video have a look at tail lights,what's that triangular red thing above the right tail lamp??
About the Chinese buses,may be the 'Made in China' fact is causing the loss,drivers may be scared of driving because the Bus may break down anywhere,as we say about Chinese goods "Chale toh CHAAND tak,nahi toh SHAAM tak(If works then it can go to MOON,else it will end up even before evening)

Volvos are built to go at high speeds thanks to 9ltr engine, my god they have power like our cars and be tailing us for long!

And the Drivers get special training at the company's training camp so they would know how the buses would behave and to hold control of 'em.But sometimes they p*** us off!

Well whatever the training is and whatever good the vehicle is..these buses have more than enough momentum to f*** the hell out of the road and its passengers if driver loses the control of the vehicle or anything comes in front of the vehicle.

Any idea what caused the loss?(China made?)

First, the price difference between Volvo B7R & King Long wasn't significant & then there was severe probs of spares. Some reports say that the buses were not cleared by ARAI & then these buses were lying idle till they got go ahead from ARAI. All the new buses inducted by MSRTC are now Volvos, which ply on Pune-Mumbai, Pune-Aurangabad, Pune-Bangalore & Pune-Nagpur route. Don't have details about Mumbai outbound routes though.

It is the Pune-Mumbai expressway where this speed is common. I have seen a Merc E Class doing about 200 kmph !!

Volvo 7700 diesel-electric hybrid bus:

Bangalore will have a fleet of Volvo 105 seater low floor-low emission diesel-electric hybrid buses to ferry passengers. Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation(BMTC) will soon introduce an experimental fleet of Volvo 7700 Diesel-Electric Hybrid city buses which will be on a trial run of two months.

Powering the Volvo 7700 is a 5 Liter MD5, four cylinder turbocharged, intercooled diesel engine that produces 210 healthy horses and churns out 800 Nm of peak torque. This engine is coupled with an electric motor that is powered by lithium ion batteries. The electric motor can power the bus for crawling speeds of up to 20 Kph before switching on to oil burner. The diesel motor’s alternator and regenerative braking will charge the electric motor’s battreries on the go.

Maybe the moffusil seats makes it a 105 seater,No trailers in Bangalore,They make the traffic conditions worse.

Scania has announced about their plans of setting up Rs.150 crore manufacturing plant in Bangalore. This proposed plant will roll out 2,000 heavy haulage trucks and 1,000 inter-city buses and coaches over the next five years. An official statement by Scania's Managing Director Henrik Fagrenius:

So we are going to have another big time player on board in a year or two.It has a tie up with L&T for dealerships in India,so hope even the tippers would make an entry

Ashok Leyland has adopted a noble approach in the market of low floor segment of public transport.

Ashok Leyland Jan Bus comes with a front engine layout And a complete flat floor beginning from the driver’s cabin and to the end of the vehicle.The floor of the bus is just 650mm from the road surface.The bus comes with a choice of configurations as regards to doors, single sided twin or three openings or double sided for BRTS application.The doors are wide and swing open and shut hydraulically allowing quick passenger movement both ways.

A nice concept. We need more low floor buses.

Is it not an Rear engine bus? 650mm? Which city in India has well equipped roads,many have potholes, with this GC it is obvious that the bus cannot go on inclined surfaces.

It's better for airport application.

Man Bus caught testing in Pune.The bus said to front engined and is air-conditioned.It is taking head on with Tata and Ashok Leyland bus front engined buses segments where volume is high.
