Especially keeping in view about a handful of commercial vehicle enthusiasts that we have on board, I'm posting images of some of the commercial vehicles taken at Auto Expo 2012. Please feel free to include more to this thread.

What are those stay bars doing in the luggage area of the Tata Marcopolo (Yellow bus) wonder if they can be lowered? if not I say its a big hindrance when putting the luggage, people carry heave luggage with them sometimes & it will be just back breaking for whoever is going to load them. even if less luggage is there, during transit movement of the luggage will not be much

They are useful IMO see if all the bags are loaded in that area those bars would help them to place it with firm grip thus prevent niggling to the corners and probably may reduce rattles created by them.

Unveiling follows the launch of an all new bus range that includes the Volvo 9400PX coach, the 7400XL multi-axle city bus and Volvo 9100 coach
Global pioneers in the business of bus making, Volvo now widens its portfolio of passenger buses in India with the launch of an entirely new range at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Unveiled to the general public earlier this year, the new range will consist of a 14.5 metre long luxury coach – 9400 PX, a multi-axle city bus – 7400 XL and a well engineered inter-city coach – 9100. Volvo’s first ever CNG powered city bus debuted in New Delhi a few months ago as a part of a test initiative to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). However, at the 2012 Delhi Auto the Swedish bus maker has gone a mile higher with the unveiling of the world’s first commercially viable hybrid bus – the Volvo 7700 Hybrid.

While the company’s hybrid solutions have already been commercialized and are presently operating across 20 cities of the world with a proven track record, the 7700 Hybrid model is the first serial production model to implement this green technology. Present at the launch of its new range of multi-faceted coaches at the 2012 Auto Expo was Akash Passey, Managing Director & CEO, Volvo Buses in South Asia, who said, “The Volvo Hybrid is very much the solution cities & environmentalists have asked for. We are ready. All we await is the demand & the direction from the authorities, so that we can apply this solution specifically to Indian needs. The Volvo 7700 Hybrid has been unveiled to showcase our intent and readiness for India.”

Just like in normal hybrid passenger cars, the Hybrid bus will also use a smaller diesel engine and an electric motor, which may be used independently or jointly for forward propulsion. Some salient features of the 7700 Hybrid model from Volvo is the electric motor that regains charge as and when the bus is required to apply the brakes. Just like the start/stop technology seen in larger executive sedans for conserving fuel, the diesel engine in the 7700 also switches off completely, which also helps create a silent and exhaust-free environment at bus stops. Another distinct feature of this clean environment friendly new age passenger coach from Volvo is that it isn’t only efficient in highly congested city traffic, but functions equally well when there is a greater distance between bus stops.

Why are there no pics of Ashok Leyland vehicles? AshLey is the second largest CV maker in India, and also the largest supplier of logistics vehicles to the Indian Defence forces! They've unveiled JanBus, the first of its kind, front engine, single-step entry city bus.

Well actually most of the volvos do not have those stay bars & even in Europe I didn't see any stay bars on the Scania bus I traveled in, guess they might hamper luggage loading if luggage gets filled to the brim

Thanks for sharing the pictures nimrod the AL vehicles looks beautiful except for that "so low"

Where in India would that Jan bus be communting? Our cities has more humps than buses won't these scrape the underbody? Does it have some kind of height adjustment?

The solo buses can be used in IT parks i think.

The JanBus is an alternative for the costlier Rear-engined low-floor/single-step entry buses that are currently in use. Read Tata Marcopolo RE AC (BMTC), KingLong (with BEST), Corona Skypak (under trials with BMTC), etc.

Solo is only as low as the Volvo 8400(almost all State Transport Corpns), Tata Marcopolo ULE (DTC), Ashok Leyland ULE (DTC), etc. Just that its front overhang is not as long as these buses.

So now AL is slowly trying to eat up volvo's share with STU's.
