Quote from LIVE MINT:

New Delhi: Four months after Chinese President Xi Jinping announced investments worth $20 billion in India, the country’s state-owned automobile company Changan Automobile Co. Ltd is discussing an entry into India’s passenger vehicle market, according to two people familiar with the development. Changan is China’s oldest and fourth largest automaker and has joint ventures in its local market with companies such as Suzuki Motor Corp. of Japan and Ford Motor Co. of the US. Top Changan executives met industry consultants two months ago, according two consultants who requested anonymity. “They were here in November and a marketing research firm was facilitating their meetings,” said one. “They were looking to understand the prerequisites of entering into the Indian market. Most of their questions were about India’s passenger vehicle market.” The second consultant confirmed meeting the Chinese firm, but declined to give details. Changan Automobile has six large manufacturing bases in China—in Chongqing, Beijing, Jiangsu, Hebei, Zhejiang and Jiangxi—and 15 vehicle and engine factories with an annual capacity of two million vehicles and two million engines.

The JV with ford may not sustain here in India, as ford is full steam on having its own strong selling and servicing network.
However, Chinese products and designs are as failure as it have been.
I used to think, cheap doesn't mean no quality, but the case with Chevrolet Sedan, designed by Chinese, made me think the other way.
Though, I am no fan of maruti cars now, the immediate issues will be created by maruti, the Changan of India, which makes outdated cars with least value on human lives. The said TV, WEB and Magazine experts will vouch for maruti as, Maruti is the bread and butter for these experts.

So, my view is that Changan will make worse cars,in the name of make in India and they will send more people to Maruti because of their failure.

Another Chinese Brand Eyes India As ‘Changan’ Plans Rs. 4,000 Crore Investment

Chinese automakers are coming in thick and fast into the Indian market as the arrival of SAIC owned MG Motor has opened the door for new brands to explore into the vast automotive space we have around here. In 2019, MG and South Korea’s Kia debuted with impressive initial volume numbers and it would have sped up the process elsewhere for other new manufacturers potentially eyeing a spotlight in India.

The report further tells that Changan has expressed its intentions to invest about Rs. 4,000 crore to state governments in a phased manner. Having already formed a liaison firm, Changan International Corporation, its office space in Gurugram will be functional soon. As for the products, the company is looking to begin its local innings with a pair of SUVs.

Well the top players in India are offering tin cars, So safety can be taken lightly, with regards to quality if they are able to dazzle the Indian customers with all theblings, then half the war is won. Later on pep them with goodies for delayed, failed, missed commitments, and you have won them over.

China-based Changan Auto India-bound

Changan Auto started researching the Indian market only a few years ago – and this included visits to India and appointment of distributors. However, despite the late start, the company is likely to make its India entry in 2022-2023. The company will join MG Motor (SAIC) and Great Wall Motors, the latter of which just announced its entry into India.

One of Changan’s first models is set to be the 4.7m-long CS 75 Plus SUV. A newer version of the CS 75, the C-segment SUV is also Changan’s bestseller, which comes with multiple seating layouts and at least two engine options – a 1.5-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre petrol unit.
