114Hp Chevy spark EV spotted testing[clap]

In the latter half of 2011 General Motors announced that an electric version of the Chevrolet Spark will be produced and launched during 2013. It has taken a while, but we can now show you the very first pictures of a prototype that was caught while stopping at a car wash.
The Spark EV will be easily distinguishable from its standard counterparts by its restyled front fascia. Changes will include a new grille and redesigned fog-lights as well as a re-modelled rear bumper that no longer requires space for an exhaust pipe.

Power will be generated from a permanent magnet electric motor that produces 114 hp (85 kW / 116 PS). Further technical details remain scarce at this point, but we'll keep you posted when more arise.

I really hope so, but this budget is not really electric car friendly as it was expected, read this article from the industry veteran Mr.Chetan Maini.

"This has been a rather disappointing budget for the Electric Vehicle (EV) Industry. There have been no benefit offered to the Industry and the increase in various duties/ cess will increase the cost of the EVs by 1 to 1.5%.

The Basic Excise Duty on cars has been increased from 5% to 6% which will result in increase of 1% in the car price. The increase in excise on parts (input) has been increased from 10% to 12%.

Lithium batteries were exempt from customs duty, however the increase in Countervailing Duty (CVD) from 5% to 6% will increase the cost of batteries.

Overall, the budget is not very encouraging for the Electric Vehicle industry."

I dont think the EV version would make it to the Indian markets. Though i must admit the alloys are really attractive.
