As of now, most of the people driving, be it a car or bike, are mad. Everyone thinks they have to reach first. No consideration for others.[anger]
So only people jump the signal which risks others life. Our traffic laws must be very strict and impose high fine on law breakers. And suspension and cancellation of Driving Licence who do this repeatedly. Then only people will think twice before breaking a law..

Blackbeauty,

I feel the laws should be strict enough to put them in jail(minimum of a day), otherwise I dont think there will be any change for lawbreakers/mad drivers.

Below are some of the Traffic fine rates at bangalore.

Dangerous Drive M.V.Act 184 Rs.300-00
Over Speeding M.V.Act 183 Rs.300-00
Without Driving License 190 Class 3/1 Rs.300-00

If you cancell the licence, he will drive without licence for which the fine is Rs 300/-. If he is involved in dangerous drive/overspeeding also the fine is same.Only difference is the section under which he will be fined. :)

Seems like you have clicked all the photos in one single road! Yeah the thing is their vehicles are small and so they use it to their advantage , While cars cannot be squeezed into gaps and take U-turns in every possible place!

While i do accept that car drivers also drive rashly especially cab drivers and young kids! But apart from them most of the car drivers drive well IMO! But bike be it young kids or even a daily office going commuter , they drive rashly and try to squeeze into every gap possible to reach their destination fast!

Nope. These photographs are of different roads. They all look alike in Delhi. No?

Another incident to show that a driver needs "common sense" than "driving sense"

Pune: Maniac in car drags cop for 100 meters

In a scene that seemed straight out of a Bollywood flick, a man drove his car for about 100 metres with a police constable hanging on to his window, minutes before a VIP convoy was to pass.

On Sunday night, Constable Govindrai Bhagat was on bandobast duty near Kharadi chowk for the wedding ceremony of minister Vikhe-Patil's daughter nearby.

The wireless indicated that Chief Minister Ashok Chavan who was in the city was about to pass and the police began clearing the road.

That's when the police noticed a Wagon R parked in the middle of the road.

Bhagat approached the man, identified as Kharadi resident Ravindra Baburao Shinde (39), sitting in the driver's seat and asked him to move his car towards the side of the road.

"He started arguing and we could see the convoy approaching. My senior told me to take the car towards the police chowky. I took him towards the side of the road and asked for his license," said Bhagat.

That's when the horror began for Bhagat. "The man pressed a button and the windows rolled up.

Bhagat's hand was half in to collect the license and it got stuck. The man then started laughing and started his car," said Vaishali Mule, assistant traffic inspector from Yerawada division who was present there.

"He dragged Bhagat in that position for nearly 100 metres. It was a horrid scene, we thought he might lose his hand. After about 100 metres, the man told Bhagat he would teach him a lesson and started swerving his car from side to side. There was a huge crater-type hole as the road work was going on. When he started swerving the car he was looking at me and that's why didn't notice the hole ahead," said Bhagat.

"His car's front tyre got stuck in that and the car tilted to one side and he had to halt the car there," Mule added.

Within seconds, Bhagat's colleague came rushing to the scene and freed his hand by rolling down the windows.

Bhagat, who was in great pain, was rushed to nearby Rakshak hospital for treatment. He sustained injuries to his right hand but resumed duty the next day despite a swollen forearm.

Shinde has been arrested by the Yerawada police and charged with rash driving and endangering lives of others, besides hurting a public servant.

"Had Shinde given the licence he would have to pay a fine of Rs 100 maximum and get away with a parking ticket. Now he is in police lock-up," said Mule.

This incident is shocking , the driver deserved a higher punishment!

BTW am back after a short tour within Tamilnadu! I must say the two-wheelers and the pedestrians cause most of the accidents in the rural areas in the highways. Near some of the major cities two-wheelers and pedestrians were good. The pedestrians crossed only when all the cars crossed the highway and the bikers rode in the left most lane.

But in rural areas the pedestrians cross the road in their own lethargic way without understanding that the car is hurling towards them at 100+kmph and most of the bikers ride either in the wrong-side or on the right most lane meant for speeding vehicles. Add truckers also to this.

Just like other cities, in Chandigarh rickshaws and cycles freely roam on main roads which is irritating but still the driving sense there is far better that most Indian towns lack.

Re: Your Views On Law-Breaking Pedestrians and Two Wheelers?

Just this evening here a biker merely escaped from a disaster. The road was jammed and still he was trying to squeeze in between a bus and cars. Soon when the bus driver was turning the bus, its rear tyre could have run over the biker’s foot but thankfully the bus driver saw it on time and stopped the vehicle.

Re: Your Views On Law-Breaking Pedestrians and Two Wheelers?

My personal observation is most of the two wheeler riders(Bangalore atleast) are in a sense of urgency, stressed & impatient.
Am pretty sure all of you who drive cars get there mirrors knocked like a million times by two wheelers,a two wheeler rider(most) in a crowded city, mind becomes like a Housefly it just reacts to paths & gaps with no second thoughts,You patiently wait at an intersection for traffic to pass & as you move a two wheeler far away wont stop & stop right in front of you wasting everyones time trying to squeeze through, its a common thing i see here in Bangalore, even that little delay makes traffic pile up & a locked intersection emerges(no thanks to autos also), as all loose patience & all squeeze through saying "me first me first"

As for pedestrians cant blame some as foot paths are non existent in some cases, but even today i had to crawl behind 4 middle aged ladies walking side by side !!!!! on the road for a good 15 sec even when there is a foot path after which as i got through & as you can imagine the two wheeler behind me says "i am outta here " & over takes me & clips the ladys arm.

I have started avoiding busy unmanned junctions preferring instead to have some peace of mind sacrificing maybe 2 min for a stress free drive,as they say in the ceat ad,the streets are filled with idiots,oh ya I tint my cars so annoying idiots cant stare at you & say something(seriously helps)

As for opinion on law breaking pedestrians what are you gonna do,seriously its a jungle out there, got many incidents to share but i dont want to over crowd it,as for two wheelers they can do anything & get away but risking there limbs without thought(like I said Housefly),as for the other decent two wheeler users & pedestrians I salute you.

Re: The Chaos of Law Breaking Pedestrians & Riders on Indian Roads

Most of the bikers do not leave a chance to utilize each millimeter of gap. Last weekend, one such moron quietly closed the outside left mirror of my car to move ahead even in that thin space when I was waiting to turn left. Guess what? He had to go straight rather. At the end, I was thankful though that he at least had some sense to shut it unlike other riders who brashly rush forward scraping the ORVM.

Is this a part of Scam ?

This happened to me twice on the same spot with the same lady ( i dont remember the face but am judging by her body language) .

1. I was coming from thane station towards Gaodevi , its a station area trafic was moving slowly (<5kmph) and i was right behind a rikshaw and was keeping safe gap (+5feet) between me and him . All of sudden a lady jumped on my Car YES ! she literally jumped from devider and landed herself right in-front of the bumper . Before i could realized whats happening my car made contact with her (am not sure about this) . Immediately (as it was just <5kmph) i stopped my car. Within seconds lady got up and started banging on my (driver side) window and even tried to open door , i realized something is wrong so i slot 1st gear and moved on. The lady chased me for few meters and turn away .

2. Again after 3-4 days was coming from same route and almost at same spot a lady jumps right in front of my car , because of previous incident i was aware of this kind of situation and just with an inch i stopped this time there wasnt any contact between the lady and my car. Still she acted as if she got hit by my car and again started shouting and scolding on me [surprise] . But like last time i decided to move on without giving any attention . I also reported this to a Traffic Cop at next signal and he promised that they will keep watch on such incident's . Also I am planing to place a Dash Cam on my car for such incident .

My Question :- Is What should we do in such situation ? Is it advisable to just to move on as i know there has to be another 3-4 people around her to gather crowd and the make a scene .

Thanks for letting us know. It might be another gimmick to distract attention by creating a false panic scene while the burglars finish their job (Link). Just don't step out of the car to be on a safer side and report to the concerned authorities.
