According to a recent survey on India’s unjustified petrol price hike in 2012, it was revealed that there are more and more vehicle owners who are opting for an alternative source of fuel, either CNG or LPG, instead of petrol due to its souring price. I think it will be just 2 years from now when we will be buying petrol in India for 100 rupees per liter. An average Indian can never afford this much hike in petrol and this is the most important reason why everyone is opting for cars fitted with CNG or LPG.

pros:
1. You save maximum money on fuel.
2. Company-fitted CNG cars come with complete warranty.
3. There are no reports till now about a company-fitted CNG car catching fire.
4. You get first 3 free services of your CNG kit as you get for your car.
5. Company-fitted CNG cars in India are little costly, but after buying, you have complete peace of mind.
6. Company provides the best quality CNG kit with the car to maintain its overall brand name and reputation.

cons:
1. Safety
2. Could led to low engine performance

go with the company fitted kit , you will get warranty and lots of discounts which are given these days. when you go with factory fitted kit the loss in power is negligeable as compared to retro fitted.
and yeah i agree with you some day or other this petrol price will hit 100 Rs per litre since cost of living also increases year by year , i personally think that we all will get used to these prices

If you want to go with the CNG option than it is always better to go with the comapny fitted one rather than aftermarket.

And yes the way they are increasing the petrol prices that day is really not far when we Indian's will end up paying 100 Rs a litre.

Company fitted CNG might be costly by approx 15-17k compared to aftermarket but you will get the warranty and peace of mind, Go for It.

But before buying a CNG fitted car (company fitted or local) first question in mind is about the safety i.e. people question about the safety of CNG fitted cars. Majority of people thinks that CNG cars can catch fires etc.

Could you guys share your expert views on safety of CNG fitted car.

It all depends on safety features. If cylinder, piping is as per standards, no need to worry. Petrol is highly inflammable too.

Buddy, if you need to go for a CNG car only and if that model is available as company fitted, then in my opinion that would be the best option to go for. You can get the kit installed from outside, but even if the installer is a professional one he can't beat the tuning of a factory fitted kit. Though you pay a premium for a factory fitted kit but it's worth every rupee as you get a better tuned kit, you retain your warranty and it's more safe this way ( I am surprised that you kept "safety" in cons section).

CNG is cheap but at the same time their availability pan India is a big hindrance. In places where CNG is available like in Delhi NCR, Ahmadabad, Pune, Mumbai and some other cities, the demand for these vehicles is high. There are some safety parameters and the loss of boot space that linger in the minds of consumers. Some of it may have merit but overall and considering that manufacturers are now offering warranty on CNG fitment, safety is no longer that big an issue.

In term of cost dynamics, petrol has clearly become a rich man’s fuel. Per kilometer running cost of petrol is largest compared to diesel and CNG. CNG is the cheapest fuel to run your car on.

For now, so long as diesel prices remain at the level they are, it is indeed a lot more attractive bet. But considering that it is also liable to change in future, CNG appears to be the cheapest if not the safest option.

Got one old data in news article which compares CNG, petrol, diesel and LPG,

*prices are just an approximation.

Add no boot space in case of hatch, very less space incase of sedan.
And if you are in city like Pune, then CNG supply is hopeless.

And if you need to do inter-city travel, then forget CNG & buy diesel.

I guess we are comparing CNG vehicles to non-CNG vehicles. The thread title says it should be a comparison between factory fitted CNG vehicles and outside fitted CNG vehicles.

Gsharma, buddy, please clarify the purpose of the thread clearly.

Gsharma first congrats for starting this thread great initiative from you [clap]

And you are misunderstanding freakdudes post kindly read what he posted again [:)]

Since some members commented diesel cars are better option , you posted price list of cng , freak dude was requesting you let's stick to one topic or atleast clear the purpose of the thread is it " company fitted cng vs retro fitted cng " ,..or is it " cng cars better option in today's scenario "

Because if it's company vs retro fitted cng kits as the thread suggests then why is a price list of cng being posted here ? It makes the discussion off topic . And basically the thread must be shifted to technical section .

Either you request the mods to change the tittle for example " company fitted cng cars better option in today's scenario " or whichever you feel sounds perfect for the intention you started the thread .

Under such thread all members can post their views and knowledge regarding cng cars and we everybody can learn everything related to cng cars ( price , safety , availability pan India , which cars are getting company fitted cng kits , which kit is better , and advanced in the market ) .

Hope you understand what maybe freakdude , and I are trying to express here .
The thread itself is a fantastic initiative from you but the title of the thread makes it limited to 1 specefic area .

You got me correct Raja, thank you.

Gsharma, buddy, we already have a thread that discusses pros and cons of CNG, you might want to search it. It too has a lot of useful information.
