The TVS-BMW alliance has started importing spares of the jointly developed motorcycle in the country, while the launch is expected in the second of 2015.
The K03 motorcycle is being co-developed by engineers at TVS and BMW.
A year after the TVS-BMW collaboration was first announced, the partnership will soon start reaping fruits with the newly developed 300cc motorcycle for the Indian as well as global markets. As we wait to get our hands on what would be a dynamic yet affordable offering from the partnership; new details on the upcoming bike has hit the interweb keeping us excited. Recent reports state that TVS-BMW’s jointly developed motorcycle has been codenamed ‘K03′ and the manufacturer has also imported two new prototypes into the country along with chassis and prototype exhaust systems.
Imported from Italy, the prototypes will be used for R&D purposes with TVS engineers commencing work and will soon be seen testing across the country. While details are scarce on the upcoming model, we do know that the motorcycle will be in the 300cc category which is one of the hotly contested entry-level performance segments. Furthermore, it is speculated that there will be at least 3 variants based on the new platform that will be on offer which include a sports bike, street-fighter and also an adventure tourer. Thus BMW Motorrad is following a similar strategy as arch rival KTM who has taken Bajaj Auto’s help to exploit the benefits of platform engineering.
The upcoming series of motorcycles hold a lot of significance for both TVS and BMW with the brands expanding their presence in uncharted territories. While TVS will be moving up the ladder from its commuter range of offerings, BMW will be moving down the ladder in the more affordable space retaining the performance pedigree seen on its high performance range. If the development is on schedule, the models could hit the market by the end of next year. Expect the upcoming motorcycles to make their world debut at the EICMA motorcycle show in October next year.

The spy shots show a water-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder machine being tested in Germany last week.
It's thought to be around 300cc and will be the first model from the German firm in its JV with TVS.

The test mule has a single headlight unit, upside-down forks, alloy wheels shod with premium Michelin tyres, a single-disc front brake and a side-slung exhaust.
According to the photographer who took the spy shots, it also has a back-to-front cylinder with the exhaust exiting from the rear, a design used by Yamaha on its YZ450F.
The new model go will up against KTM’s Duke 390 and Kawasaki’s Z300 in the growing small bike market.

As revealed recently by Visordown, it's codenamed ‘K03’ in shipping documents.
Expected to be launched in 2015.

TVS-BMW K03 will be launched in early 2016.
TVS-BMW’s first JV bike will be 300cc.

TVS-BMW’s joint venture to manufacture sub-500cc bikes in India will commence soon , codenamed as K03, will be ready to be launched in the early days of calendar year 2016. TVS will showcase the K03 at the 2016 Auto Expo. The 300cc bike has been undergoing extensive testing in Germany and now the bike is in the final phase of tests.

This will be the first 300cc bike for TVS and it will be coming in multiple avatars like naked, full fairing etc in the later stage. Initially, it will be launched as a naked bike. The single-cylinder 300cc engine will be the smallest engine in the BMW portfolio. The bike will be manufactured in India and exported as a BMW and sold in India as a TVS. It will be exported from India to other countries.

BMW-TVS 300cc Bike To Use A Single-Cylinder Engine

BMW and TVS are together developing a new bike that is codenamed K03. The 300cc bike will come in street-fighter, full-faired and adventure versions. The 300cc bike was first caught testing in Germany, and that was a year after BMW and TVS officially announced their tie-up. The company has now patented a wheel design and the rim looks strikingly similar to the one that was found on the 300cc bike test mule. Different components of the bike are being patented which means that its launch is actually not far. The bike will come with a blend of technology from BMW and low-cost production abilities of TVS.

The 300cc bike will get the TVS badge for some markets and the BMW badge for other markets. It comes with a reverse cylinder design with the intake at the front and exhaust at the rear of the cylinder. Even Yamaha and Honda are adopting such designs so BMW is not the first one out there. The 300cc engine is a water-cooled single-cylinder unit but power and torque figures are not known, we expect around 30 horses though. The suspension comes with upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Disc brakes will be offered at the front and rear and ABS will also be offered as a standard feature.

The design of the TVS-BMW motorcycle will of course be sharp and it will carry some distinctive styling elements. The BMW-TVS K03 will also come with LED lights. We can expect the bike to be unveiled towards the end of this year, most probably at the 2015 EICMA and then it will be made available in 2016. The BMW-TVS K03 will fight it out with a slew of bikes including the Honda CBR300R, Hero HX250R, KTM Duke 200, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Benelli TNT 300.

13 TVS-BMW K03 (300cc) bikes testing in Germany.

A total of 13 units of these K03 sportsbikes have been manufactured by TVS and sent to BMW Motorrad in Germany for extensive testing. While spyshots available on the internet are very few, the bike has been testing for a year now (not in the open for a year though).
The most powerful offering from the TVS stable, the K03 will feature a 300cc motor. Full details about this engine are not known at the moment. Powering the Draken concept which was revealed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo was a 249.2cc, 4-vlave, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine with EFI producing 38.5 BHP of power @ 12,000 RPM and 23 Nm of torque @ 9,500 RPM mated to a 6-speed gearbox built around a trellis frame. Considering these specs, expect the larger 300cc engine block to produce above 40 BHP & 25 Nm easily.
The bikes motor is expected to be a reverse-cylinder design with air-intake at the front and exhaust at the back of the cylinder. This will make the TVS-BMW product the most unique in the segment.
BMW has confirmed that when this new range in unveiled, there will at least be three variants on offer. This could include a track-spec sportsbike, a naked street bike and an adventure model.

300cc TVS-BMW K03 being exported for Rs. 1.07 lakh

TVS continues to manufacture their first ever 300cc motorcycle developed jointly with BMW which is currently being exported to Germany for testing.

More than 30-40 bikes have been manufactured already and have been exported to Germany where BMW will take care of the testing process.

What’s interesting here is the declared export value. For the past couple of batches, the TVS-BMW K03 is being exported for a declared value of Rs. 1.07 lakh.

To add more to this exciting bit of news, this declared export value is much lesser than the KTM Duke 390 which is dispatched to Germany for Rs. 1.50 lakh / unit.

Friends,

The new BMW G 310 R – the first BMW roadster under 500 cc

P90202631-bmw-motorrad-g-310-r-11-2015-600px.jpg

P90202622-bmw-motorrad-g-310-r-11-2015-600px.jpg

The new BMW G 310 R – the first BMW roadster under 500 cc.

One cylinder, low weight, powerful dynamic performance – the BMW G 310 R embodies the pure essence of a BMW roadster: it has neither too little nor too much of anything. Pragmatic in the best sense of the word, it offers precisely what is needed – for dynamic performance and comfort, both in town and out in the country. The BMW G 310 R takes these essential qualities into a capacity segment that is new to BMW Motorrad. As a genuine BMW roadster it masters a range of disciplines: it is just as happy winding its way nimbly and flexibly through the narrow streets of a city as it is travelling supremely and powerfully along country roads. And thanks to its exceptionally low level of fuel consumption and a relaxed, comfortable seating position, it offers the welcome capability of being able to cover a long distance at a time.

At home on the roads of the world.

Newly conceived from scratch, the G 310 R represents everything BMW Motorrad stands for: innovation, quality and of course many years of carefree partnership with its owner. Designed specifically for the world market, the BMW G 310 R can run on the most diverse fuel qualities, meets all emission standards and local requirements – and takes the typical BMW premium aspiration to the segment under 500 cc.

Dynamic roadster design with echoes of the S 1000 R.

The powerfully expressive design of the BMW G 310 R instantly reveals its agile, dynamic character, making a clear statement within its own segment. It has an unmistakeable visual kinship with athletic family members such as the BMW S 1000 R. The small headlamp mask with striking headlamp, dynamically modelled fuel tank trim elements and characteristic roadster proportions with a striking front section and dynamic rear give the BMW G 310 R a mature presence on the road. Precisely modelled surfaces define the dynamic side view. The compact, dynamic proportions and the short wheelbase promise fast changes of direction, while the high rear conveys a lightness that is suggestive of the bike's sporty genes. In spite of the clearly visible naked bike character of the BMW G 310 R, the side surfaces in body colour create a closed silhouette in athletic style. High-end details such as a standard upside-down fork, quality materials, supplementary fittings and excellent workmanship all reflect the finest within the segment, clearly underscoring the premium aspiration of the BMW G 310 R.

Innovative single-cylinder engine for dynamic riding fun and suitability for a broad range of uses worldwide.

The centrepiece of the new BMW G 310 R is a completely newly developed 313 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves and two overhead camshafts together with electronic fuel injection. The capacity of 313 cc results from a bore of 80 millimetres and a stroke of 62.1 millimetres.

The striking feature of the engine is its backward-tilted cylinder in open-deck design with the cylinder head turned by 180 degrees, making it possible to position the intake tract at the front, viewed in the direction of travel. With an output of 25 kW (34 hp) at 9 500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7 500 rpm, the engine of the new G 310 R is a very dynamic partner in conjunction with the low unladen weight of 158.5 kilograms according to DIN.

Sophisticated ergonomics and an easy ride response.
The new G 310 R offers a markedly relaxed seating position for relaxed, stress-free and easy-going motorcycling. As is characteristic of BMW Motorrad, all switches and controls are simple and secure to handle. Great importance was attached to easy and safe operation, taking into account the most diverse rider anatomies.

It banks with ultimate agility yet always remains neutral and predictable. It masters lengthy bends and fast passages with directional stability, displaying athletic talent without any loss of comfort. Extremely compact and with a broad spectrum ranging from comfortable to sporty and dynamic, the new G 310 R simply opens up a whole new world of experience in its segment when it comes to ride response.

Rigid tubular steel frame, upside-down fork and long swinging arm for a high degree of ride stability, precise steering response and sound handling. In terms of suspension, the new G 310 R has a torsionally stiff, highly robust tubular steel frame in grid structure with bolt-on rear frame. The front wheel suspension is taken care of by a solid upside-down fork while at the rear there is an aluminium swinging arm in conjunction with a spring strut that is mounted on it directly.

High-performance brake system, ABS as standard and multifunction instrument cluster.

Like all BMW motorcycles, the new G 310 R is fitted with ABS as standard. It combines a powerful brake system with 2-channel ABS. At the front wheel, a single-disc brake with radially bolted 4-piston fixed caliper and a brake disc diameter of 300 millimetres ensures powerful and stable deceleration. At the rear, this function is performed by a 2-piston floating caliper in conjunction with a 240-millimetre brake disc. The G 310 R instrument cluster has a large liquid crystal display that offers excellent clarity and a wide range of information.

The highlights of the new BMW G 310 R:

Innovative liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with two overhead camshafts, backward-tilted cylinder and intake tract positioned at the front.

Output 25 kW (34 hp) at 9 500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7 500 rpm.

Rigid tubular steel frame, upside-down fork and long swinging arm for a high degree of ride stability, precise steering response and sound handling.

Tyres 110/70 R 17 at front and 150/60 R 17 at rear.

High-performance brake system and ABS as standard.

Sophisticated ergonomics and multifunctional instrument cluster.

Low seat height of just 785 millimetres.

Dynamic roadster design with echoes of the S 1000 R.

Developed in Munich by BMW Motorrad – produced in India by cooperation partner TVS Motor Company.

Individually tailored optional accessories in the familiar high quality typical of BMW Motorrad.

Stupendously impressive!
But, remove the front cowl or scoop, it will look exactly like a Duke.
