Hi deville..
Currently I'm using Yamalube FS 10w-40, in starting the engine feels smooth and responsive but after crossing 1700 km there is little vibration and harshness above 4k RPM.
I think you are also using same oil, what's your opinion about Yamalube FS ?
And which one is good for fz engine Motul 5100 or Yamalube?
I used 5100 for a long time before fully switching to Yamalube FS. I found the latter one better. Vibes after 4k rpm was common in most FZs, mine subsided with valve settings.

Recommended interval for stock plug is 10k km. Cleaning is required in between.

Hi Dilip!

Thanks for creating such a detailed log of you FZ ownership and maintenance, love the photos btw.

Looking to bring my old workhorse back to life, thought I could get some suggestions from you. It's a 2009 January FZ 16. Used until July 2012 and been lying in a garage since then because I was outside the country. Just got back for a while, looking to bring it back to use.

What are the first things I should look out for in terms or maintenance/repairs/replacements.

Any other tips?

Thanks.

Needs extensive work/cleanup since there will be lot of muck up inside engine. Tank, engine, carb needs thorough flush up. Throw away current tyres since its would be cracked up so much. Rubber parts and hoses needs replacement. All moving parts need lubing, especially bearings. Chain would be ruined for sure. All electrical connectors and switches needs cleaning. New battery. Would be a bit costlier deal.

Back to square one. Motul 5100 10W50. My favorite. [evil]

After 46 liters of oil, heart stays with this one, 14th liter of 5100.

Yamalube Sporty Premium full synthetic was great oil, but somehow Barricade does not like it. Shift was butter smooth, but level dropped tremendously. Each time, ended up in some engine trouble. First time use, timing chain, rocker arm, valves packed up. Second time, cam needed rework. Third time, trouble free, but needed top-ups. Fourth time, engine overhaul. Fifth time, done with it, 600 ml after 2k km.
It was very cheap and tempting (₹ 400.00/liter of full synthetic oil), and never learned each time [frustration].

Ran 1k on 5100 and level still at full marking.

2018-09-26 07-26-16.JPG

Made in Vietnam and 10W50 was pretty rare in 5100. Was looking for 15W50.

2018-09-26 07-26-31.JPG

2017 stock. MRP ₹ 625.00, got for ₹ 530.00

2018 stock is Made in Thailand and MRP is only ₹ 540.00, but not seen anywhere in Trivandrum.

Putting a screw driver in the small notch helps split the lens and reflector. Needs to be gentle, can easily break the glass.
