It was an impromptu decision made the previous night that all extended family will go for a long drive, to Yelagiri hills. All my efforts to convince them about the fact that there is nothing to see there, was in vain.

Then I said the compromise is that we will come back via off-the-beaten-path back to Bangalore through inner roads / villages / etc.

Onward journey: 3 hrs (10am - 130pm, 30mins bathroom break @ McD Shoolagiri)
ITI Gate - ORR - Electronic City - Hosur - Krishnagiri - Natrampalli - A few kms after that - A road runs parallel to the railway track - Right turn as per Google maps - After a few kms it joins the Jolarpet-Vaniyambadi highway - Ponneri - Yelagiri.

Road conditions: Nothing to describe about the Bangalore - Natrampalli.
Inner roads: Motorable. A pretty useful shortcut. For a change, good village roads & scenery.
Yelagiri hill climb: Simple 14 hairpin drive. 2nd/3rd gears will do. Easy going stuff. Some there will be some idiotic drivers wanting to overtake. Excellent roads.

Sightseeing: We didn't go there to see anything. In any case, heard that there is nothing to much see anyway. Spent time in one of the adventure games shop + park (children play things) + walk around the boat house.

Lunch: Had lunch @ Hotel Hills (just opp to Boat House Road) in their restaurant. Forgettable food. Never intend to go there again. Poor service too.

Return journey (this is off-the-beaten-path). 4pm - 830pm.
Yelagiri - Natrampalli (via the previously mentioned village roads) - Pachur (6-8 kms from Natrampalli, u-turn & left into this small road) - Kuppam - Nalagampalli - Sathu - KGF - Bangarpet - Kolar - Hoskote - Home.

Road conditions:
Mostly single/dual lane carriageways. Mostly beautifully maintained. No potholes whatsoever. Many speedbreakers. But in some places roads are mixed with sand. You can maintain at 70 pretty easily. Excellent scenery. Worth the time/effort. The sunset was so beauftiful, we were watching it continuously for an hour, as we were driving towards west. Not to be driven at late evenings / night. No food / break options. Extended family was kind of enough to do things in the nature!! We had brought fruits, knick-knacks, so didn't stop for that. If you are unlucky you could be stopped at all of these 6-7 railway crossing! We were struck for 10-15min in only one of them. Please note that TN-AP, AP-KA borders are touched in this route.

Exceptions:
KGF - Bangarpet: Huge traffic. Be careful here with the oncoming headlights, blinding.
Road conditions in/nearing Bangarpet town is horrible. One such pothole tested the Scorpio's suspension.
