Bajaj QUTE QUADRICYCLE to be available in Kerala and North East from next month

After six years of long battle, Bajaj Auto will be finally selling the Qute quadricycle in India. This came after the Supreme Court's go ahead on the classification of quadricycles as a new vehicle category in India. Bajaj Auto has already started deliveries of the Qute to select dealerships in Kerala and North East in India. The Bajaj Qute will be listed into a new category and will be sold as commercial vehicle. Presently, Kerala and North East are the only two states that have approved the sale of Bajaj Qute
At long last, Bajaj did manage to get Qute on Indian roads, well done. Thanks for the update.

Why kerala and North East? These are hilly terrain, atleast NE, and area's around TVM, with 4/5 on-board will the punny 200cc engine pull, or like the e-rickshaws be slow and a menace on the streets.

Definitely a better option than traditional Auto rickshaw, but the ‘share auto’ segment is already taken by TATA Magic which has bench seats and sliding door and is better suited for ferrying 6 to 8 passengers. I believe states other than Kerala and North East will take their own sweet time to approve the sale of Bajaj Qute, so I don’t see Bajaj achieving its target of 5,000 per month for this quadricycle in near future. However strategy like tying up with Ola for mass sale for Ola Auto will help bring in numbers.

The Bajaj Qute is powered by a 216.6 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, water-cooled, Digital Tri-Spark ignition, 4-valve engine petrol engine that produces 13 BHP of maximum power and 20 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox, while the quadricycle has a maximum speed of 70 kmph.

Qute closely matches auto rickshaw, except for higher revs to achieve almost similar power and torque. Bajaj Compact Auto rickshaw produces 10 hp power at 5000 rpm and 17Nm Torque at 3500 rpm. With a curb weight of about 348 Kg the power per ton is 28.74 BHP
Qute produces 13 hp at 5500 rpm and 19.6 Nm at 4000 rpm. With about 400 Kg weight, the power per ton works to 32.5 BHP

Unlike what the styling of the Bajaj Quite might suggest, it's not a car. Instead, it is a low-cost means of transport that aims to replace the three-wheeled auto-rickshaws in the commercial segment. It weighs just 452 kg and is powered by a 216 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DTSi engine. On petrol, the engine makes a maximum power of 13.1 hp at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.9 Nm 4,000 rpm. On CNG, it outputs 10.9 hp at 5,500 rpm and 16.1 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The motor comes mated to a five-speed sequential manual unit.

All the best to Bajaj on their 1st ever fore in the 4 wheeler segment. @3L+ onroad price for a bare-bones personal vehicle, it's too basic, to replace autorickshaw it's okay.

Bajaj-Qute.jpg

Bajaj launched the all-new Qute in the Indian market earlier this year. The Qute was already available in many international markets but due to the rules of the government, the launch in India got delayed for a long time. Finally, after the regulations were updated, the Qute was launched at a price of Rs 2.48 lakh, ex-showroom, Maharashtra. The Qute is launched as an alternate of unstable three-wheelers autorickshaw but private customers can also buy the vehicle for personal use.
