Thanks @350Z for the charts and sales breakup for the month of august.
So it looks like the bloodbath is not stopping anytime soon..With a few exceptions the downward trend continues. It looks like the market sentiment will not pickup much even during the coming festive season.
I believe its mostly due to..
(1) poor availability of easy loan facilities. Most of the purchase is affected by this .Although there are many other factors compounding this negative trend such as
(2) upcoming BS6 norms and its scare in the public.

Ciaz at 15896 is this correct figure. Some other source autopunditz shows 1596. No 8 is in middle is the typing error. Rectify it.

The real issue is the low sales in entry level market. It points out to just one thing. The lower income groups are in big distress, Especially let us call them just got into the car buying group kind. That means India's economy in those regions are struggling especially the rural India.

yes, very true. I guess this wont end soon. Neither there are any exciting new car launches until Q3 2020. Not just cars, even tractor and 2-wheeler sales are down by a big margin. With high NPAs, banks are also scared to give loans. Loan approval has become a stringent process nowadays. Mainly there have been many factors which leading to this, cant point one factor though.
When public has more savings be it a salaried or a businessman then they will think of buying a new car, else car purchase will take a backseat until other requirements are satisfied. Government should take measures to increase the savings and spending capacity of the country. BS-VI is also a reason but sudden diesel bans largely effected the sales.
Add to that high traffic challans and poor road infra has nailed the auto industry down.
