I doubt that charging is also a part of leasing terms.! I believe they are talking about charging their scooters whether 0n outright purchase or leasing. You can pay as subscription for one year or quarterly basis in advance. Incase you charge the vehicle at your home point regularly, then this charge is not required - I think need a clarification on this charging matter.

Read the last para of the article:

''A notable fact is that these prices for the two scooters from Ather Energy includes a home charging point or dedicated charging station for the Ather 450 with standard installation and charging cable. This is with a 1 years subscription and if purchased separately costs Rs.9,912 for a year or 2,596 per quarter.
Ather Energy will either pay the public charging station if charging is done via a charging station or reimburse the owner every quarter, if charging is done via a home charger.'

First on the road: Deliveries for the Ather 450 begin in Chennai

The automaker began deliveries of its scooters today, marking their expansion in a new market

Chennai, October 19th, 2019:
Ather Energy began deliveries of their flagship scooter Ather 450 today in Chennai. The week will see nearly 100 scooters being delivered to Chennai consumers, along with the new compact home charger, Ather Dot. Mr. Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO handed over the keys to the enthusiastic owners at Ather Space, Chennai.

Ather has been investing in setting up fast charging infrastructure in Bengaluru & Chennai. Currently, Chennai has ten fast charging points and more will be added in the coming months. The company recently signed an MoU with the Chai Kings to add charging points to their 30 outlets across Chennai. EV owners will find the first couple of Ather Grid Points at Chai King outlets at Porur and Ekkattuthangal. With the multiple fast public chargers set up by Ather, 450 owners will have charging available both at home and free charging across the city until December 2019, enhancing their ownership experience and reducing range anxiety. Chennai EV owners can find charging points across the city, from Bikes & Burgers in Kolathur, to Forum Vijaya Mall, Vadapalani all the way to East Coast at Madras Square on ECR.

Ather Energy opened pre-orders in early July 2019 for Chennai. Pre-orders till December are full, and batch 3 is now open and one can get their Ather 450 in February - March '20. The company has been offering test rides at their experience centre, Ather Space in Nungambakkam. Space gives consumers an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the vehicle and its operation.

Prospective owners can place their orders through the company website and at Ather Space. Many customers are also leasing Ather 450 instead of outright purchase, a unique model introduced by Ather, the only B2C & two-wheeler company to do so in India. After Chennai, Ather is now gearing up to launch in Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai.

Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy says:

"Chennai has been very welcoming. The response for the consumers at the time of launch blew us away and we are looking forward to establishing ourselves in the city and servicing the strong demand for the Ather 450 in the coming months."

About Ather 450: The Ather 450 is designed for city riding conditions, with a top speed of 80 km/hr, a range of 75 km and one of the quickest accelerations of 3.9 seconds from 0-40 km/hr in the scooter category. Also, for the first time in the category, Ather 450 comes with parking assist, which allows riders to reverse into tight parking spots. The key differentiator of the Ather 450 is its intelligent features, seamless charging and ownership experience. The Ather 450 has a 7” touchscreen dashboard that allows onboard navigation with options of alternative routes and saved locations. It comes with the Ather app that enables push navigation from the phone to the vehicle dashboard, remote monitoring of the vehicle’s health and charge status. Finally, with the over-the-air (OTA) updates functionality, the vehicle can improve over time with continuous upgrades in addition to new features and functionalities.

About Ather: Ather Energy, India’s first intelligent electric vehicle manufacturer was founded in 2013 by IIT Madras alumni, Tarun Mehta, and Swapnil Jain. Backed by founders of Flipkart, Sachin Bansal & Binny Bansal, Hero Motocorp and Tiger Global. Ather Energy has designed India’s first truly intelligent electric scooter - Ather 450 - powered by a comprehensive public charging network, Ather Grid, built and designed in India. With 38 charging Points in Bengaluru and 14 charging Points in Chennai, Ather Grid is the largest fast-charging network for electric vehicles in the country. The company’s product line has won 30 awards in design, automotive and technology categories. With over 51 patent applications, 113 trademarks and 123 design registrations to its name, Ather Energy aims to provide consumers with the best possible ownership experience. Ather Energy currently operates in Bengaluru and Chennai and will expand to other major cities across the country.

Ather Energy Rolls Out New Over-The-Air Updates For 450 Electric Scooter

The Ather 450 electric scooter has received its sixth over-the-air update since its launch last year. Customers of the e-scooter in Bengaluru and Chennai have received the newest update - 4.1.0 that brings a number of enhancements to the model. This includes onboard navigation and a smoother touchscreen experience on the model. According to the company's website, the dashboard now allows you to drop a pin to locate a destination that is not listed on the maps. The system also now allows automatic rerouting when the rider goes off-route, instead of manually selecting to accept or reject the new route.

New Ather 450X limited edition electric scooter – Launch across India

ather-450x-launch.jpg

Ather Energy in trying to reach out to a market that’s only just beginning to understand electric mobility has now devised a new business model. Having already set up shop in Bangalore and Madras, Ather Energy is now inviting dealers to set up experience centres in other cities.

In addition to that, the company has just announced an all new limited edition scooter, called Ather 450X. Unlike the Ather 450 which is only on sale in Bangalore and Chennai, the 450X is on sale across India. But there is a catch. Order is via invite only. Or you can register your interest online at their website – Ather Energy

Ather is calling their new 450X a ‘super scooter’. In essence, it’s better than the Ather 450 when it comes to performance, and tech. Would be interesting to see what the approach is. Pre-orders for the limited edition Ather 450X will begin shortly. Below is the official teaser video.

Speaking about their new scooter, Ather says, “A leap beyond a regular scooter. A step above the Ather 450. Up on performance. Up on intelligence. Up on awe. The Ather 450X is everything you wanted your scooter to be. Except the center stand. Final product specifications and the price will be announced post the formal unveiling of Ather 450X in a few weeks.”

Ather Introduces New Dark Theme For 450 Electric Scooter Range

Ather-450-3.jpg

Ather Energy, the electric vehicle startup company has introduced the seventh update for its Ather 450 electric scooter range. The Over The Air (OTA) update has added a new ‘Dark Theme’ to the scooter’s instrument cluster, which enhances the riding experience after the sun sets, and also improves visibility.

Ather-450-OTA-Update3-1068x641.jpg

The Dark Theme has been requested for a long time on Ather’s Forum, since riding with the regular Light Theme at night resulted in strain on the eyes of the rider, and the bright light coming from it could also be a distraction for many. The new Dark Theme addresses all of that problems, and makes night rides easier.

Ather-450-OTA-Update1.jpg

Now, owners have the option to manually make a choice between the Light and Dark themes. You can also set it to auto which will keep the Dark theme switched on between 6 PM and 6 AM, while the Light theme will be activated for the rest of the day. Additionally, it also comes with some improvements like a more responsive keyboard, and the ability to save previous riding modes.
