Maruti Suzuki India Limited is getting ready to phase out the current Alto which has been in production for many years now. Instead, it will bring in a new and much improved Alto in its place. This new generation Maruti Alto will follow a micro crossover body style, inspired by the Future-S concept which was showcased by Maruti Suzuki at the Auto Expo in 2018.

This might not be the All New Alto right ?? Looks like a stop gap measure until the above spied alto is launched. I dont think so this will sustain the crash norms that will kick in by 2020

Upgraded Maruti Alto 800 reaches dealerships ahead of launch

2019-Maruti-Alto-800-1.jpg

Maruti Suzuki has begun dispatching the upgraded Alto 800 entry-level budget hatchback to dealership stockyards across the country. The Maruti Alto 800’s market launch will happen in a few days from now. It’s likely to be a soft launch. As a part of an upgrade to meet new safety norms under the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) regime, the Maruti Alto 800 gets standard safety features such as a driver airbag, ABS, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminders and speed alerts. Higher variants of the car add a passenger airbag to the equation. The car is likely to get about Rs. 10,000-15,000 pricier following these changes.

2019 Maruti Alto 800 Detailed First Look – Walkaround Video From Showroom

With standard driver airbag, ABS, reverse parking sensor, speed alert system, and seat belt reminder for front seat occupants, the Maruti Alto facelift now complies with the safety norms mandated by Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program. However, the platform which has been soldering for decades with only minor changes would not be compliant with the upcoming crash test norms. Making the ageing 800 cc three-cylinder motor meet the stringent BS-VI norms is also a difficult task.

New Maruti Alto BS6 Launch Price Rs 2.94 L, Rs 13k More Than BS4 – TVC Video

It is to be noted here that the car launched today is not the new gen Alto, which is currently on test. New gen Alto is set for launch in October this year. It will be based on Heartect platform, just like new WagonR.

For starters, the 2019 Maruti Alto 800 facelift gets updated exteriors. It is seen with a new grille which is larger and stretches between two headlamps. It also gets an Alto badge and drops the 800 moniker and sits on 12” steel wheels painted silver or black.
