2016 Hyundai Tucson has 2.5 month waiting period, production increased

Hyundai Motor has increased production of the new 2016 Tucson SUV owing to rising demand from export markets. Currently, the 2016 Tucson is made at a factory in Ulsan, South Korea, which is unable to meet demand. The Korean company reached an agreement with its worker union to produce an additional 50,000 units/annum of the new Tucson at a second factory in Ulsan.

The 2016 Tucson was revealed in February and launched in Korea in March this year. Within 4 days of going on sale in its home market, Hyundai bagged over 4,200 orders for the SUV, which was double the sales performance of the older Tucson in January 2015.
Hyundai has started production of the export variant of the Tucson which it will sell in North American, Australian and Asian markets. However, thanks to the production crunch, Hyundai already has a two-and-a-half month backlog which it intends to reduce with the new production shift.

The new Tucson is powered by 1.6-liter T-GDI and 1.7- and 2.0-liter diesel engines, paired to 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch transmissions.

According to reports, the new Tucson’s platform is being looked at by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) for a new mid-size SUV that would rival the Mahindra XUV500. A launch is not slated to take place until 2018 though.

looks gorgeous. i have a couple of questions
1. why do they call it 2016 tucon when they are launching it in 2015 itself? ( i see the same for elantra, sonata, santa fe in Hyundai usa website)
2. is it considered for India market ? if so when?

Well all Hyundai car looks the same. the design is good but right from elitei20 to creta to tuscon why should the look be so dramatically same? Why would I plonk money in the highend hyundai car when I have samelook and feel for much less amount?
