The All New Honda Jazz has been launched in Indian Market at a price range of Rs. 5.31 - 8.59 lakhs (Ex- Delhi) with 2 Engine Variants i.e I-Vtec and I-Dtec and the Transmission choice of 2 Manual Transmissions (5 Speed and 6 Speed) and 1 Automatic. The 5 Speed is for Petrol Jazz and 6 Speed is for Diesel. The Engines offered in the All new Jazz are 1.2 L Petrol and 1.5 L Diesel. The Automatic Variant is at present only coming with Petrol Version of New Honda Jazz.

Let's see how different are the interiors of All new Honda Jazz

Well, Honda Jazz has re-entered the Indian Market with an aim of grabbing the attention of the youth. The interiors are designed keeping in mind Jazz's target audience. On the face of it if you compare the finishing of the interiors to that of Hyundai then for sure you'll be slightly disappointed. But as an individual car, I found Jazz's interior to be practical enough with quality of plastic that definitely be improved further. Here are the interior pics of the All new Honda Jazz:

The In-Cabin Observations for All New Honda Jazz

The Cabin of the all New Jazz Which I drove was Black which made it look dark. There are Silver accents provided on Steering wheel, AC Vents and the Gear Console. Even the seats of my test car had Black fabric which made the cabin appear smaller. The same cabin with Beige interiors would have looked more elegant and premium.

Power-Steering Wheel: The all new Jazz which I drove today had steering mounted controls which gave much ease to me for adjusting the volume of music. Apart from that the steering wheel comes equipped with driver Airbag and Bluetooth functions. If I talk about the ease to handle the steering, then I am pleasantly surprised with the ease of driving the Jazz and its ability move out of tight spots. The steering is really good and doesn't give the driver any sort of fatigue. In driving through the city traffic, one needs a steering wheel which shall help him/her to corner and drive the car with ease so in this respect I found the power steering of Jazz very responsive.

AVN System: The new Jazz provides two choice of AVN screens i.e 6.2in touch screen and 5in screen* (Variant Specific). Talking about the display unit in my car, the display of the AVN was really clear and the reversing view was highly detailed. The rear view display is really helpful for the short height drivers for whom looking back through IRVM can be a pain. Of-course for me it wasn't a problem either ways.[:)]

Gear Console and Shifting: Well I drove the 6 Speed Manual Transmission Diesel Jazz. So, first thing that caught my eye was a below-average finished gear knob. I mean in today's time who expects a gear knob that reminds you of cars of early 2000? In simple words, the gear knob in manual transmission is poorly finished. About the gear shifting if I talk then, the gear shifts in the diesel Jazz were bit hard. The up-shift and down-shift both felt slightly hard to me. The gear console in new Jazz comes with Silver accents. Overall, I do believe that the 6 Speed manual transmission provided to the Diesel Jazz could be further well synchronized and meshed.

AC Cooling: My test car came with Auto Climate Control and the cooling of the cabin with it was quite good and it cooled the cabin evenly within few minutes. However, At higher speed, the sound of Blower/Fan in AC is bit annoying.

Cup Holders: The Jazz, as I mentioned above is targeting the youth so accordingly keeping the youth's lifestyle in mind, it has been provided with 9 cup holders for the ease of passengers and the driver alike.

Speedometer: The Speedometer though appears very similar to the City but has been tweaked minimally. The speedometer comes equipped with a Tacho-meter and Tripmeter and MID. The illumination provided to it is Blue and it displays information like the outside temperature, Fuel Consumption, Average Fuel Consumption. Another feature which I came across in regards to this refreshing and good speedometer console was that it's illumination can be adjusted as per need.

Overhead Grips: The new Jazz has 3 Over-head grips* (Variant Specific) which are Beige in color and quite comfortable to hold when one is seated as co-passenger.

Plastic Quality Of Interiors: The plastic quality provided to the interiors of the new Jazz is I can say decent but not as good as the immediate competitors like Hyundai. The plastic used in hand-brake console, indicator and wiper levers is decent. The door pads on the other hand, were a combo of fabric and plastic in the test car. The door pads are provided with the sleek looking Silver accenting on them with Silver finished door locks.

Interior Lighting: The Jazz I drove had 2 separate roof lamps i.e one in front and the other at the center. The center one is same as that of Honda City.

Glove Box: The Jazz does not get a cooled glove box or an illumination in it. It is just basic one for storage. I feel at-least a light in glove box would have been nice.

Sun-Visors: The Jazz comes with Beige Sun-Visors in VX model which get vanity mirror for the passenger side.

Switch Panel on Driver side: The switch panel has been immaculately placed in the driver side door at a convenient height for ease of operation. There are no Silver accents on it though and you can internally adjust the ORVMs from it.

ABC Padels: The height of the ABC pedals in the new Honda Jazz is quite convenient and the rubber used in all of them seems to be of good quality. There is no such uneven play in any of them. Their design is similar to what I am using in my 3rd Gen Honda City Ivtec. Also a word of advice, if anyone intends to put after market pedals that come with screws on OEM ones then please not that after some time the pedals shall rattle. I faced it in my Honda City so best is to avoid them.

The Magical Seating of All New Honda Jazz

Practically, the All new Honda Jazz is the hatch version of Honda City Sedan. The Jazz comes equipped with Magic Seats whose main purpose it to increase the boot space as well as seating comfort with different combinations. The magic seats come in handy when the owner shall decide to use the internal space of the Jazz as per his/her need. The magic seating does prove helpful in seating comfort of passengers. Talking of the Legroom and shoulder room, the owner shall not be disappointed in that as it provides decent legroom and shoulder room. If I talk of the headroom, then too it provides good amount of headroom for person of 6ft height. The under-thigh support is decent as well. With 165mm ground clearance, the Jazz boasts of similar GC as that of the Honda City in present generation. Honda Cars of earlier generation like some previous generation Honda CITY(s) had complaints of low GC (I know it as I own it) which has been ably rectified in the New Jazz. The fabric in seats looked decent but in all probability it will get stained as it is in Black/Dark Gray shade. With a low transmission tunnel, 5 people can sit in it with ease and to further increase the comfort of rear passengers, the seats are equipped with adjustable head-rests. As of Ingress and Egress from the new Jazz, it is not tough at all. Below are the pics of seats, legroom and how the magic seat increase boot space as per need.

Drive-ability, The Ride, Braking, Engine, Cabin NVH and Tyre(s)​

Drive-ability of the 1.5 L Idtec is in my opinion decent enough for the City driving as the engine is responsive. Talking about the torque and power delivery, both are decent enough for a driver like me who has been since past 4 year been driving the 1.5L Petrol City. Acceleration quite responsive as I drove the car. Overall, it can be safe to say that I-dtec Jazz is a comfortable city commuter.

NVH Level: Since it's the same 1.5L Diesel taken from the Honda City, thus, the NVH levels even after many rectification are having immense scope for improvisation. The idle NVH can be modulated further and while on drive, the NVH will often remind you of the CITY Idtec. At the RPMs 1500-2500 the engine noise is evident inside the cabin. In simple words, the NVH bring the diesel Jazz back to square one.

Braking: It is responsive in the all new Jazz as my test car also had disc brakes along with ABS and EBD so additional accuracy of the brakes on wet roads (thanks to the rains) is a welcome move. The new Jazz comes equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes.

Talking of the ride quality, the suspensions are pretty decent in feel as the jerk while driving was not felt much at potholes. The suspension setup of new Jazz shall enhance the overall drive experience.

Tyre(s): Over here I would say Honda did the mistake again by giving the Jazz 175 Section Tyre(s) like Honda City. Both CITY and Jazz are under-tyre from OEM. However as mentioned above, the suspension does its fare bit to ensure that the passenger shouldn't feel harsh jerk even with under-tyred Jazz. The spec used in new Jazz is 175/70/R14 for E Version and 175/65 R15 for all other variants. The spare Tyre spec for all variants is 175/70 R14.

The Jazz Belly and GC: One thing that has been rectified in the new Jazz by Honda taking lesson from Honda City is that they have provided well molded mud-flaps unlike the ones which I have in my CITY. They will now not scrap on speed-breakers.

The External Lights of the Honda Jazz: The Jazz does not get Projector or HID rather comes with normal Halogen Bulbs. The Fog Lamps provide additional visibility but LED/DRL are not provided though provision are made for the same. The beam of the headlamp in darkness/cloudy weather is OK. If you all may remember, the previous generations of Honda City had complaints of under-powered headlamps so to some extent the headlamps in new Jazz feel better in comparison. The tail lights might distantly remind you of the CRV or the Volvo SUV lights.

ORVMs: The ORVMS in the New Jazz come body colored with In-built turn lights and are electrically fold-able* (Variant Specific). The design looks neat with good viewing space.

* Sunset Orange color is really beautiful

* Magic Seats

* Swipe area of wipers was good.

* Seating is good.

* AC Cooling is nice.

* Horn was pretty good.

* Body design has been improved upon.

* Rear Defogger as it was helpful even for rainy reason.

* Immobilizer

What could be better

* Interior finishing.

* NVH in Diesel

* Diesel Variant pricing.

* No automatic version in Diesel Jazz.

* Color palette misses out on basic shades like Blue and Red

* Smart key and sensors.

* No airbags in E and S Variant.

* Panel Gaps could be better.

* It does not get alloys.

* No turn indicators in the ORVMs rather separate indicators given at conventional position.

Thankyou Aakash for sharing the first hand report of test drive report.Brilliant detailing you have given to your pictures.Few observations that i felt which was not expected from Honda as per my opinion,
Panel gaps are uneven and large compared to previous version.
Underthigh support lacks on the rear bench as seen from the pictures you shared.
Again the sound insulation is not taken care of with new jazz which was reportedly given feedback to honda by their current users from city as well as amaze, i had expected this would be rectified on a much better way then given in this car, noise remains tobe audible inside the cabin.
Seat belts are not height adjustable as seen from the images, also the black shaded on beige interior panels looks out of the sight.
If you have driven Amaze diesel earlier how would you compare the ride quality on both these cars having the same engine, not comparing city here.
Magic seats as are available on the higher variants, lower ones gets the flat fold or split folds?
I agree with you on the tyre sections part where they should have upsized the tyres then given 175 ones.

Thanks Vijay, The seats in the variant I drove had decent under-thigh support. Infact, I mentioned it in the review. The seats don't lack in under-thigh support in this variant.

If you have driven Amaze diesel earlier how would you compare the ride quality on both these cars having the same engine, not comparing city here.
To be honest, I have not driven Amaze Diesel so far. So can't give a comparative view on Amaze and Jazz buddy.[:)]

The only Variant to get 60:40 split, reclining and Multi modes in rear seats is the VX model of Jazz. All other variants get bench type seat with back folding.

I was looking forward to own the Jazz with Magic seat. Unfortunately by restricting the Magic seat only to top variant, they dashed my dream [anger]. Jazz USP is magic seat, without it, it is no longer a Jazz.

Well buddy, Magic seats are no-doubt useful but in practical use, they'll be used less because most of the time when you'll drive, there would be 2-4 occupants with some luggage so the use of magic seats becomes less.
