Bangkok Motor Show, Ford unveils the Everest (Endeavour) concept

The Ford Everest Concept was unveiled at the Bangkok Motor Show yesterday. Incidentally, Ford officially revealed its Figo concept car just before the Auto Expo. While most believed Ford would unveil the Endeavour concept at the Auto Expo but its Asian debut happened in Thailand.

Ford’s Everest was made for the ASIAN countries, however the new model might venture into global markets as well.

However, Ford seems to be in no hurry with the new Everest, having showcased the SUV close to end of 2013, we can expect the production ready model to hit the market anytime next year. It doesn’t have any radical lines, outrageous wheels or fancy headlights and can be even passed off as a production ready model.

In India, the Endeavour hasn’t received any major upgrade for a while and the sales of the Endeavour have taken a big hit in the competitive SUV segment. Ford showed us the facelifted Endeavour at the Auto Expo which might act as a buffer until the new model is launched. We are eager to watch how the new Endeavour takes shape, and will report on it as soon as we get information.

2015 Ford Everest confirmed for production; Will have minimal changes from the concept

Ford unveiled the 2015 Ford Everest at the Bangkok Motor Show a few days ago and according to reports, the production model won’t be much different from the concept. This concept is almost identical to the one unveiled last year in Sydney and will later end up in India as the Endeavour.

The 2015 Everest was confirmed for production yesterday and will be manufactured at Ford’s facility in Rayong, Thailand. The new Everest will share the facility with its donor car, the Ford Ranger, and will hit the showrooms in 2015, for ASIAN markets.

The 2015 Everest was developed by the company engineers from Australia, though the car won’t be sold there for a while. Dubbed a true off-roader’ by Ford, the car looks similar to the Territory SUV, which will be phased out in 2016.

Speaking about the new Everest, Mark Fields, Ford’s main operating officer said:-
“This is our eyesight for a huge, seven-seat off-road SUV to allow our consumers to tackle the globe and it was made by our world-class design team below in Australia. We think our consumers will certainly adore the unique design, which plainly showcases the Ford Everest Concept’s exceptional off-road capability and strength.”
The new Everest will ditch the leaf spring suspension in favour of coil springs, though it might take longer for the car to get independent suspension. Besides the completely refreshed rugged looks, the car will also get the latest equipment kit, including an eight-inch touchscreen with the updated SYNC2 multimedia system.
For India, we expect Ford to retain the current car’s engines, a 2.5-litre TCDi engine producing 141bhp and 330Nm of torque and a 3.0-litre unit producing 154bhp and 380Nm of torque. While the 2.5-litre unit comes only with a six-speed manual gearbox, the 3.0-litre unit will be mated to a new six-speed automatic.

The Endeavour is currently brought to India through the completely knocked down (CKD) route and the next car will continue to follow the suit. The Everest was expected to be unveiled here at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, though Ford had other plans and it showcased a facelift of the car. This facelift is expected to hit our showrooms later this year, in order to keep the car fresh till the new car is brought here. The Endeavour, thanks to its robust looks and massive road presence, had a successful run in India, but since the entry of the Toyota Fortuner, sales figures have been quite uninspiring. The car was updated long ago and to match up to the competition, Ford needs to bring in the new Everest as soon as possible.

2016 Ford Endeavour spotted with production body, to get all-new All Wheel Drive system

The 2016 Ford Everest (Ford Endeavour in India) has been caught testing in Australia ahead of its launch early next year.

A report states that the 7-seater SUV will come fitted with a new an intelligent one-touch multi-mode all-wheel-drive drive terrain that will cater for a variety of driving conditions, from icy roads to off-road going.

The report says that this system will be available in the top-end automatic variant and should allow drivers to pre-select powertrain settings for normal, snow, sand and off-road mud/ruts driving. While snow and ice testing are being undertaken in the Scandinavian region, off-road testing has been going on in the Australian outbacks, with a Toyota Prado used for benchmarking.

The Everest concept was showcased at the Bangkok Motor Show last week. The spied mule doesn’t see much of a difference between the concept, except in its wheels. While the horizontal grille remains somewhat similar – with the camouflage making it impossible to say if the chrome grille has been retained – the underskirt leading up to the foglamp assembly seems to have made it through.

The test mule also shows black ORVMs and a black D-pillar. The bulging wheel arches at both ends are also seen on the test mule.

The new Endeavour will retain the current 2.5-liter and 3.0-liter diesel engines, but would get upgraded 6-speed manual and automatic transmission.

I guess the front looks more of the older version of Fortuner with slightly edgy grille - that hexagonal style you know. But side profile is the one to go for - I always loved the side profile of Endy and I wish they don't screw up that pure-American style.

Once Endeavour had a look as if a bull is fiercely approaching us in the road. That changed once the Fortuner dominated roads. Now again the fierce look will be back.
