Windows 7 won't receive security updates, support after January 14, 2020: Microsoft

Announcing the news on its website, the Redmond-based software major said that after January 14, 2020, it will no longer provide security updates or general support for computers still running Windows 7. Microsoft has just launched its subscription-based office service, Microsoft Office 365 on the Mac App Store. As part of the announcement, Apple claimed that it is “easier than ever for Mac users to download” all the Microsoft Office apps. Users can now easily download Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, and other popular Microsoft apps directly from the App Store. To make things easier, Microsoft has also added a way for users to purchase the Office 365 subscription directly from within the apps.

Microsoft advises against using Internet Explorer as primary browser

Chris Jackson, a cybersecurity expert in Microsoft’s Windows division, explained in a blog post that why people today should not use Microsoft‘s Internet Explorer. He says that the browser should not be used as your primary Web browser as it is a ‘compatibility solution’ for enterprise customers to deal with legacy websites.

Microsoft to end Windows 7 support in July; here's the reason why

Customers running legacy OS versions (Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 SP2) will be required to have SHA-2 code signing support installed on their devices by July 2019. Any devices without SHA-2 support will not be offered Windows updates after July 2019,” said Microsoft.

Microsoft notifying users about end of Windows 7

Microsoft is rolling out a notification update to existing Windows 7 users, informing them that the software giant is pulling away support for the operating system (OS) version. “After 10 years of service, January 14, 2020, is the last day Microsoft will offer security updates for computers running Windows 7. Microsoft Said to Launch 15-Inch Surface Laptop 3 at October 2 Event



The company is also expected to launch an AMD-powered Surface Laptop 3 and it is possible that this chip could be found on this rumoured 15-inch model, The Verge reported on Sunday, citing German publication WinFuture.

As per the report, Microsoft will still offer a screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, as it did on the 13.5-inch Surface Laptop. In addition, the larger 15-inch model will likely support the Surface Pen as well.
