visiting a authorized service center may prove to be very much expensive its hard to predict the exact amount as it depends on the amount of malfunctions

@Sachin

There is no much choice left for us. If we have to maintain our vehicle properly then we need to get it serviced with some one as we cannot do that on our own. First thing is to go to the dealer service as the guidelines are laid down by the manufacturer, but they take advantage of our innocence on the parts inside and add some xyz and increase the bill. If we go with a outside service guy, we really do not know that how much he knows about our car and even the same story repeats of adding spares and increasing the bills. At least after the service at dealers place, if something goes wrong we could fight with them and take up the matter with manufacturer if required, but you do not have that option if you get it done outside, a funny situation all together, so buying a vehicle is not difficult these days, but maintaining it has become a big headache

@Vibhor

Thanks for sharing the details and the bill looks to be quite reasonable from Ford. How about having this section divided with car brands as I feel this section is very important for everybody and locating the information will become easy.

Ford workshops never quote a reasonable amount. You have to "insist" to make them reasonable. Let's discuss about that suggestion in the feedback thread.

Service Expenses of Different Companies !!

i am fed up of people saying "maruti's ASS is cheaper" ; "honda's spare costs are costly but reliable ; "hyundai is expensive to maintain" ; " VW's & Skoda's are expensive to maintain"

Don't just say it after hearing from somebody else. if you have bills of your own car or you find bills from any other source possible , post it here.

If you think some part or even labor is expensive , compare it with what you think is less costly.

i'm posting all the bills i have of my 3 cars ,

Where friends are
I didn't had Toyota (when I had Innova) & Hyundai (for i10) ASC in my town, so I had to get done regular services & many accident jobs from known Auto engineer garage. But my experiences are:-

1) Local guy appear cheaper because they don't ask for parts replacement unless they are near total damage. Considering high speed highway tours, often with families, this may turn devastating.
2) Local guy check & repair only for the things asked, while ASC checks everything whether asked or not & suggest replacement for partly damaged parts, so appear costlier but may be safer in long run.
3) Local guy many time attempt repair of bumper / door / light assembly, so appear cheap while ASC insist for replacement so costlier but better for those who want their car in tiptop condition
4) Body / bonnet / door color done by local garage appear like new initially but somehow show signs of ageing in few months. ASC color job is costlier but last longer.
5) In accident job, local guy have no access to company original spares & hence mostly use spares available from gujri bazaar which are usually leftover from total loss vehicles, hence cheaper but are not exact new.
6) In accidental jobs, insurance people deliberately deduct 10-15% from spare charges (charges means not that quoted by garage, charges of OEM spares) when spares are not procured from company, but from elsewhere, because they believe they are procured from used vehicles.
7) For complicated engine & electrical problems, local guy will deliberately ask to go to ASC as he don't have access to hardware/software to access & decode ECU.

In nutshell, I recommend to go to ASS unless you are damn sure about quality & vfm of local garage. Rather sorry to be harsh, but purchase the vehicle when you can afford the ASS. I know they are selfish & money hungry, but we have no option when quality is first priority.
