Aadhaar To Be Linked With Driving Licence Soon: Ravi Shankar Prasad

The government could soon make linking your driving licence with your Aadhar as mandatory. Union Law and Justice and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ravishankar Prasad shared the news recently at the 106th Indian Science Congress earlier this week in Phagwara, Punjab.

Though law made it not mandatory to have Adhaar, I like/support this move because of the ease of getting duplicate licence once get black listed. Perfect example was the private bus driver responsible for an accident that killed almost 40 people was banned for life and was caught again recently driving a bus with licence from another state. There is no way to track interstate licence activities, sometimes inside the state. I can simply take duplicate licence from my local RTO stating its lost even if it gets confiscated out of state simply producing a police FIR, which I can get visiting any police help desk (lying to them).
