These were surplus export left over to Poland. Sold in India as limited edition. Only Maruti knows how to sell ceased models for premium price.

300 Carbon and 300 Steel where there and sold out like hot cake.

Decent number of 3-door Zens here in Trivandrum and some of them kitted and performance tuned [not engine swaps]
Came across this thread while searching for something else.
The Carbons and Steels could hardly have been left-overs from Poland, since that is a LHD country.
The limited editions of the Carbon and Steel variants were planned to tap the pulse of the market with regard to a 3 Door.
Sadly, India still believes in the need for 4 doors since even if not always, most Indians want to transport self, wife and kids, Mama, Papa and Chacha, and will not buy a 3 door by choice as a first (or only) car!!

Maybe they have tweaked to RHD since both shared same underpinnings. I remember reading that in AutoIndia or Autocar of that time [evil]

Not so easy tweaking a car from LHD to RHD, not if you are a serious manufacturer!!
But the 3 Door variant dies for the RHD version are also available with Maruti (and all the relevant parts that get added on!!) since this was exported to UK and Australia also. !!

My point is that there are a huge number of buyers in India today, whose typical usage of the car, 98% of the time is single driver or two people in the car. Still, for the 2% usage, they still will not consider a 3 Door variant!!
