BMW is gearing up to give the 5 Series sedan a mid-life facelift. Spy images of the 2021 5 Series doing rounds of the Nurgburgring circuit have surfaced online. The Bavarian carmaker has been testing two test mules of the 5 Series- a sedan which will make its way to India in the same year and a Wagon which will go on sale in the European markets. The model is wearing partial camouflage on the front and rear ends hinting that majority of the design changes will be centred on these areas.

These latest images confirm that the exterior design will be a subtle evolution of the existing car, with revamped headlights, an updated grille and new bumpers at the front and rear

Meanwhile, we know that the interior will gain BMW’s latest 12.3-inch iDrive infotainment system (as found in the new X5 and X6), while a range of trim and upholstery updates will help the 5 Series keep pace with the benchmark set by the Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6.

BMW will revise the 530e iPerformance’s plug-in hybrid powertrain for 2020, as hinted by the “hybrid test vehicle” branding spotted on a test mule last year. The updated variant could feature a larger capacity battery pack, with a view to increasing the current model’s all-electric, zero-emissions range of 31 miles on a single charge. The 5 Series’s conventional engine range will also likely receive various efficiency revisions.

The BWM 5-SERIES LCI has a lot of changes to the design of the front and back, much better than the previous look, like the F10, which doesn't quite distinguish between the previous model and the LCI. But for the 5-SERIES G30, it's a lot of change. Can be observed from a distance Reproduction from the elder 7-SERIES. The changed parts are as follows:
  • New design headlights
  • New design grille, Giant Kidney Grille
  • New front bumper design
  • New design rear light
  • New design alloy wheels

The BMW 5-SERIES LCI is expected to be in the period April - May 2020 for Thailand. May be able to meet the 5-SERIES LCI as soon as possible. By the end of 2020 - beginning of 2021, this is similar to the launch of Mercedes-Benz E-Class Facelift as well.

New 2020 BMW 5 Series facelift to be revealed next week

BMW 5 Series 2020 spy-8.jpg

The facelifted, seventh-generation BMW 5 Series saloon will be revealed next week, according to new teaser images posted on BMW’s social media accounts.

According to BMW Korea’s official instagram account, the covers will come fully off on 27 May, alongside a similarly refreshed version of the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo.

As predicted by our previous sightings of camouflaged prototypes, changes to exterior design will be fairly subtle. Contrary to other recent models, BMW designers have resisted the urge to increase the size of the front grille based on the teaser shot.

The new front end is rounded off with a set of slimmer headlights, whose LED lighting graphics flow into a new, more angular bumper. Around the back, the only significant change comes in the form of a new LED signature for the tail lights. Expect some new wheel and colour designs, too.

2021 BMW 5-Series Gets New Tech and an Altered Look

2021-bmw-530e-110-1590527883.jpg?crop=0.740xw:0.740xh;0.151xw,0.jpg

  • The BMW 5-series is updated for 2021 with a new look and additional features.
  • The lineup remains the same and includes 530i, 540i, M550i, and 530e plug-in-hybrid models.
  • The 2021 5-series will reach U.S. dealerships in July 2020.
BMW is subjecting its 5-series to a comprehensive if modest facelift that's designed to steal the thunder of Mercedes's somewhat more aggressively restyled E-Class and the still-fresh Audi A6. Set for a launch in mid-2020 as a 2021 model, the lineup will again comprise the 248-horsepower 530i, the 335-horsepower 540i, the 523-horsepower M550i, and the 288-horsepower 530e plug-in hybrid.

Inside, visual changes are modest, with new contrasting stitching as the most noteworthy improvement. However, the driver-assistance and infotainment systems have noticeably improved, with new cloud-based maps and a plethora of further options that do their best to distract you while potentially saving you from the consequences of being distracted.

2021-bmw-530e-117-1590527887.jpg?crop=1.00xw:0.918xh;0,0.jpg

The updated 5-series starts at $55,195 for the 530i sedan, $58,195 for the 530e hybrid, $60,445 for the 540i, and $77,795 for the M550i xDrive. BMW says that the 2021 5-series models will reach U.S. dealerships in July 2020.
