Toyota Corolla with seven-speed AT next month

In a surprise move, Toyota will offer a seven-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) in the Corolla Altis in place of the conventional four-speed torque converter-equipped auto. This is in addition to the manual option which is the mainstay.
The face-lifted Altis, which goes on sale next month, gets a new grille, bumper and headlights. The cosmetic changes are minimal but freshen this Toyota saloon, which has been around since 2008.
The Japanese carmaker will retain the Altis’ two current powerplants — the 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol and the 1.4-litre turbodiesel — and the company has confirmed that there will be no 1.6 petrol option as rumoured. Expect a marginal increase in prices when the face-lifted Altis arrives.

Re: Toyota Corolla with seven-speed AT next month

I think this is the first offering of Altis AT from Toyota right? Or does it exist even now?

I think this is not the car in the previous page! I can hardly notice any changes in the car!
The tail lamps and the front grill does look different from the current version. I just hope they do give the 5 spoke alloys instead of the current boring design.

We are not launching the (new) Corolla next month due to non-availability of components. We will continue selling the existing model.

2011 Toyota Corolla Altis Facelift; Details + Pics

Motoroids has reported that the face lifted version of Toyota Corolla Altis would be launched in 15 days. Here are some picture of the new model which will hit the markets soon. From what we see in the pictures, the new model sports slightly modified front grill and bumper. The rear gets new led tail lamps and chrome garnish on the boot.
Inside, the Altis will continue to remain almost the same except for the new Touch screen head unit which is capable of playing various formats. Although it has not been confirmed anywhere, but what we see in one of the pics is the Start Stop button which has become quite popular in recent times.

I expected more from Toyota , a newbie to automobiles will hardly be able to spot the difference! Though touch screen player and start stop button will be nice additions. And if it does have start stop button , it will most likely have the keyless entry system too.

The New Altis looks a lot better from rear and the black color only compliments the royal looks of this car. These are a few pictures from Carwale.com

Good News! Toyota has launched the all-new Altis. The car carries a price tag of Rs.10.53 Lacs - Rs 14.77 Lacs for Petrol and Rs.11.46 Lacs - Rs. 14.55 Lacs for Diesel. The most apparent changes on exteriors are headlamps, grille and the taillamps. Inside the hood, it receives an advanced dual VVT-i system which offers 140PS of horsepower and 173 NM Torque. Apart of it, the two new gearbox options of 6 Speed Manual and 7 Speed CVT-i (Top-End Petrol) are available as well. ARAI fuel efficiency figures for the petrol and diesel variants are 15.22 kmpl and 21.45 kmpl respectively.

“Since the launch of the first Corolla in India in 2003, we have been getting very good response for the car. So far we have sold 70,000 units of the car across the country,” said Toyota Kirloskar Motor Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa.
