Interiors of Face-Lift XUV 500

Mahindra has really worked on providing a plush and comfortable in-cabin experience. Firstly, the cabin well insulated and with windows rolled up, driver and passenger can hardly hear outside noise. Moving on the speedo-cluster, really well designed speedometer and the round design of the meters look pretty neat.

Seating

The seats of the new XUV-500 are really comfortable with good amount of shoulder room, headroom and legroom. The under thigh support is also nice. The seats in W10 variant are of leather and well stitched and also house the airbags. There are in all 3 rows of seating and the 3rd row seats are fold-able with adjustable head rests. The front driver seat is 8 way power adjustable in W10 model and I really found the center armrest in front seat to be comfortable as I myself have the habit of driving at ease by placing my arm on armrest many times. The rear seats can be folded. The 2nd row seats can be folded in 60:40 where as the 3rd row seats can be folded 50:50 basis in all variants.

Steering

The steering of the new XUV-500 was pretty comfortable according to me and easy to drive. It is 2 tone steering wheel with Tilt and Telescopic feature in W10. The steering in W10 comes with steering mounted controls for the ease of the driver. But honestly, the steering does not give any fatigue to the driver. Really easy to handle and due to this the turning of the XUV in traffic becomes extremely easy for the driver. I drove this XUV on one of the busiest crossings of Noida i.e Sector 1 and mind in you in no time I could steer clear of the traffic without any difficulty. The steering I found to be extremely responsive.

Center Console

The center console of the new XUV-500 looked really well finished and ably houses the Automatic Climate control AC, the front center AC Vents and comes incorporated with Multimedia System having 7" Screen and features like USB, Ipod Connectivity et al. The center console further adds to the plush feel of the cabin.

Re: Mahindra XUV-500 Face-Lift Manual (Diesel) Driven

170mm GC provided to new XUV-500 as per the Executive. I too felt that ride was really comfortable and the XUV drove on potholes and breakers with ease. Partly the ride comfort is also due to the Mc Pherson and Multi link suspension being provided to it.

Some more helpful and aesthetic feature of new XUV-500 Face-Lift

* Immobilizer

*Mahindra Blue-Sense App

* 12 V Socket

* Illuminated Scuff Plates

* Smart Key with sensor.

* Push Button Start Stop

* Fuel Saving Engine Switch off.

* Follow me home Headlamps.

* Rain Sensing Wipers.

* Ice- Blue Lounge Lighting in the cabin including the foot-well

* Voice Command System and Alerts.

* Driver, Passenger, Side and Curtain Airbags with ABS, ESP, Hill Assist.

What I Liked

* Refreshing new design at front.

* Accurate and Responsive Braking. Thanks to the regenerative braking.

* Good Quality Plastic used in interiors.

* New Design Headlamps look really nice in flesh.

* Pick Up is really good.

* NVH in Idle condition is very low

* Idle acceleration too does not distort the NVH Level much.

* AC Cooling really nice.

* Egress and Ingress is really nice.

* Good Quality Wipers.

* Horn is OK.

* Clutch does not feel hard.

* Hand-brake is slightly tricky but only for me.[:)]

* Driving in traffic is not a pain at all.

What Should be Improved.

* Gear Shifting is not up to the mark. The Lever is not that good. You can feel the shakiness in it while up-shift.

* No Automatic Transmission.

* While driving at higher RPM the engine is bit loud.

* No upgrades in rear profile of this XUV as such.

Some Basic Info on the new XUV-500

* Fuel Capacity: 70 L

* Turning Radius: 5.6m

* L/B/H/W (mm): 4585/1890/1785/2700

Hi,
XUV 500 seats are modified compared to the earlier versions? Last row becomes very tough for access in older versions.

Thanks Akash for the crisp review. Nice pics as well. Do you have a clue if they would be giving some discounts, if negotiated hard?

Excellent review as always, Akash1886! Well written and with adequate pictures to support. Rated a full 5 stars. [:)]

The ice-blue lounge lighting is way better than the earlier red combination. Sadly there are no changes at the rear, LED tail lamps would have justified for the price tag. How much prominent is the vibrations of the gear lever? Do you have more information regarding the static bending headlight? And, do the projectors still house halogens, or they are HIDs now?

@storme_on_d_way:
I don't think they would be giving discounts on the on-road price, as it is a new launch. You can press hard for freebies though. Try tricking the dealer by giving quotes from other XUV5oo dealers, in this way one or the other would try to match the lowest quote or give a better deal. This works in many situations! [lol]

Now they come with fold-able type. So accessibility issue is resolved.

Much Appreciated buddy. At present the car being new, discounts could be tough task. Let the dust settle then probably some scheme on this car shall come.

Thanks Nikunj, It takes quite a lot of precision and accuracy to write a review.

How much prominent is the vibrations of the gear lever?
The Vibration is not much but yes when you up-shift then the lever feels really ordinary. It does not complement well to the rest of the cabin finish and the car's persona as whole.

Re: Mahindra XUV-500 Face-Lift Manual (Diesel) Driven

Nicely detailed. Thanks for sharing. My dad wants to replace our XUV with facelift, as our XUV is now 3 years old and clocked 94000kms.

Is there any way to do away with the chrome bezels on fog lamps? They are very ugly. Other than that, I would say looks are an improvement.

Buddy in direct sun-light the FM/Music Screen becomes bit dim but still readable. As of the sound quality, that is very good. In-cabin acoustic feel is pretty pleasant if I have to sum it up in simple words.
